dear folks, as i was readin a few books of the bible today i happened to notice that there was a lot of the word gentleness ,,,,associated with the spirit and so i thought yawl might like to read some of what i read today..
sides i believe readin a little scripture is never a bad thing.. plus i didnt make alot of commentary in there either.. hehe
galatians 5:14-15 14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." 15 But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another!
galatians 5:22-23 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
galatians 5:25-26 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.
galatians 6:10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.
galatians 6:1-2 1 Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted. 2 Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
i really like that one as i believe any trespass could also include maybe having a wrong intrepretation of some scripture as well.. i could be wrong but its my interpretation..
it shows to me that we restore such a one with a spirit of gentleness..
ephesians 4:1-4 1 I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called,
2 with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love,
3 endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
ephesians 4:29 Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.
ephesians 4:31-32 31 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. 32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.
ephesians 5:1-2 1 Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. 2 And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.
Unity Through Humility
phillipians 2:1-4 1 Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy,
2 fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
3 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.
4 Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.
phillipians 3:12-13 12 Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. 13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead,
i find this one very interisting as even paul himself said he is not perfect but he presses on and forgets the past ..and reaches forward ...
i surely know im not perfect .. not even close but i am doin the best i can and am lookin forward.. to the prize ..
phillipians 4:5 Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand.
Cattleman... thank you for the post. The scripture you referenced, means so much to me, and should to us all. We have tendencies so often in this community forum to not stop and take a deep breath first, before we jump in and just write/speak our minds.
There is a certain amount of humility that comes with learning how to acquire that "spirit of gentleness", wouldn't you agree? A brother or sister in Christ would have to first believe in their hearts the truth of the scriptures you gave, and test them to know and testify the truth of them.
I have experienced personally, here through the CDFF forums, about being mindful of my posts replies on many of the scriptures you listed for us. It is important that we remember we're in Christ, supposedly. We are to be that "salt", and "light" to the world. We are different. We should not, and will not look like the rest of the world. ~ GM
