Is God a murderer?

Ok....so, many times in the old testament there examples of God committing what would appear to be genocide in our eyes. Killing off whole cities, destroying everything...leaving nothing alive...but if you look closely enough, you can see that God always gives people a chance. Look at the flood. Evil in this world was at it's highest peak, but before God destroyed everything He gave everyone 120 years to listen to Noah, and to repent and board the ark. Didn't help much, but He did it. Nineveh...God sent a prophet to tell them they were going to be destroyed, and here's a good example of God's mercy. They repented and He withdrew His sentence. Sodom and Gomorrah. Again, God would have spared the city if there would have been 5 good people. Lot and his family made four. They couldn't find one other good person in either city. The land of Canaan. Here's a good example of God's plan throughout history. There were two reasons the Israelites were made to wander through the desert for 40 years. First reason was a punishment for their lack of faith and obedience. Second reason was that the Amorite's(and possibly all of Canaan's inhabitants) sins had not reached their fullness, God had given them around 500 years to repent. In Genesis 15:13-16 God reveals a prophecy about Abraham's children. Anyway...I guess my point is that even though God executes these punishments, He has always given people a chance to turn away from their sin, and the bible probably doesn't record all the things that God did with these increasingly evil people to try to bring them back to Him...who knows how many prophets and messengers He sent. It's not God's will that any should perish, but sin causes everyone to perish...so He kinda has to get rid of sin. Destroying the wicked is a "strange act" for God, but He has to destroy the wicked to save the innocent. Evil people have free will, and they use it to choose to disobey God and avoid His salvation. True...they would probably all repent if they could see their end, but that is not true repentance. Fear of punishment is the wrong motivation.

In answer to your question, of course he is not, the executioner is Satan. There is a law set in motion from the beginning and it is the law of sowing and reaping. Our father has no death in him, that is why he has tried to get the people to turn because, the day of the harvest would come.

Um....I'm pretty sure God has killed quite a few people. Sin is the reason for death, but God is the judge and executor...who kills Satan at the end?

Nobody does, how do you kill a spirit? If the lord killed people the bible is not true, and we don't have need to concern ourself with his word!!

I think you will find that God has killed thousands in the Bible. Besides the examples of the flood and Lots family, we have Pharaoh and the people of Egypt, The Israelites when they didn't listen, many other examples.

But no, God is not a murderer. We never understand God's plan or reason for things that He does, but if we read the book of Ester, we see what happens when man doesn't do as told.God had told Israel to completely wipe out a people and when they didn't they almost wiped out the Jews a few generations later.

Blessings,

Leon

Well I suggest to you If God is a killer, then he is guilty of lying, because he said he is life and that he can not lie, but he does explain who the killer is.

Ok. Let me give this a shot.

If I kill someone, it's murder.

If God kills someone, it's punishment. Punishment that people knowingly bring upon themselves. We know that God is the judge. He is simply making his judgement.

Has God killed people in the past? Yes. PhillipJohn, read about the Flood. Read about Sodom and Gomorah. God killed those people. That doesn't make God a liar, though. He is simply being just. He is a just God and has to do what needs to be done. The wage of sin is death. That's just how it is.

Isaiah 55:8 (New International Version)

8 "For my thoughts are not your thoughts,

neither are your ways my ways,"

declares the LORD.

9 "As the heavens are higher than the earth,

so are my ways higher than your ways

and my thoughts than your thoughts.

This is a question that gives no one in the flesh or any thing whom was created by God given to Justify.
