jeremiah 10 1-5Posted : 5 Feb, 2010 03:50 PMDepends on whether or not you're going to worship the tree...that verse is talking about making idols to worship. I don't think they had Christmas when that was written...but it's all about your attitude. God created trees...just don't worship them. |

jeremiah 10 1-5Posted : 5 Feb, 2010 08:02 PMwell you need to do some research my friend...look up where christmas originated...look as far back as you can find...it will shock you...and regardless of how it is celebrated today it is still the same pagan ritual as before..."Let no man spoil you through philosophy and vein deceit after the traditions of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after massiah. |

jeremiah 10 1-5Posted : 6 Feb, 2010 09:36 AMTrue, but I do not celebrate it as a pagan holiday:goofball:. I don't even celebrate it as a christian holiday. It's just like the 4th of July with a pine tree and presents.:rocknroll: This is what could be referred to as the freedom Paul was talking about. If believe you have to have the circumcision of the flesh to be right in God's eyes, then do it. If you believe you are spiritually circumcised, then you don't need the physical. It's your attitude. There is nothing biblically wrong with setting up a beautiful tree as long as you don't worship it. There is nothing biblically wrong with giving gifts or receiving gifts unless you're selfish about it, and there's nothing biblically wrong with doing those things on the 25th of December. I've read the bible and I believe there is nothing wrong with pine trees in the house, so I am free. If you believe it is wrong, don't do it...but don't try to hold it over my head, because the bible doesn't say we shouldn't have plants in our house. Church steeples are pagan. Wedding rings are pagan. The days of the week are pagan. If you really want to start picking out everything that is pagan and avoiding it...be my guest, lol...you'll be at it awhile. It depends on your belief and your attitude. If you place pagan significance on it...you should avoid it. If you refrain from placing pagan significance on it, and if you refrain from participating/believing in the things that are biblically wrong with it...then I don't see a problem. That's what I believe. Happy Sabbath! |

jeremiah 10 1-5Posted : 7 Feb, 2010 05:19 PMeach person needs to make their plan of salvation. The months of the year are all named after roman ceasars and roman gods. Do we disolve the calender then? I hope not.The church has been using it for almost 2,000 years. What about the planets? Do we change there names too? Take the scripture for what it is meant for friends. Paul said he who lives by the law dies by the law. |

jeremiah 10 1-5Posted : 8 Feb, 2010 04:15 PMWell...my parents raised all of their kids with "the truth about Santa" and the truth about the pagan side of these holidays...it's still all about the attitude in my opinion. I believe I am under liberty, as long as I don't place pagan significance on stuff. Anyway, read Romans 14 and 1 Corinthians 8. If you guys want me to stop celebrating Christmas, I will...but lets talk about Sunday if you want to talk about pagan roots:laugh:. I'll stop celebrating Christmas if you guys go to church on Saturday. We'll trade "weaknesses"! So...I'ma stop talkin' now:angel:. |
