A Huge MisunderstandingPosted : 24 Jan, 2010 06:48 PMNope, I think you're totally right. I think it's kinda funny when some people claim that we're only under the spirit of the law now, like that somehow makes it easier. Sin is something we need to fight until it's out of our lives...I don't think it's possible to achieve that in this life, but I do think we should have that attitude. Fight it to the death. You don't have to win, that's why Jesus died...to cover our inevitable failure to rid ourselves of sin, but we need to want sin gone from our lives with our whole heart, and we need the law to identify what sin is so we can fight it. |

A Huge MisunderstandingPosted : 24 Jan, 2010 07:11 PMWell... I'm glad there are some of you that agree. How, though, do you go about changing the church? How do you convince the church that we are falling back into the same rut? If there's one thing I've learned about Christians, especially those higher up in the "church", it that they know for sure what their beliefs are. If you challenge them, or just flat out disagree, then more times than not, YOU are the one who's wrong. I mean, naturally, people don't like others telling them they're wrong or that they've got it all wrong, especially when they've been taught something their whole lives. Any time in the past when a major view has been challenged, it has taken a monumental force to make change happen. So, how do you convince the "teachers of the law" that their ways are reverting to the old patterns? My first instinct was a new denomination, but I don't think Christianity needs yet ANOTHER denomination. I really don't think that's it. In fact, it's almost as if I don't want to be called a Christian anymore simple because of the connotation that comes along with it. We've changed what it SHOULD connote. I don't know. I'm just lost right now. Venting, maybe, more than anything. Direction in my life seems to have brought me here, but for probably the first time, I'm kinda lost as to what to do. |

A Huge MisunderstandingPosted : 24 Jan, 2010 09:41 PMYou can't convince Christians easily, I've been starting to notice that. Doesn't matter how many texts you give...we all think we have God's truth and we're not giving it up without a fight. I guess that's good...for the individual. It's a horrible witness to the world though. I honestly don't know what to tell you. I definitely do not think we need more denominations...we just have to wait for God to call us out of "Babylon". I'm really starting to think that's the only way. God has to step in. However. If you wanna talk about non-Christian's....live your life according to the principles you have learned and never stop learning. Who knows what life you'll touch by living your life as a witness? Only when you get to heaven and they thank you for the kind word, the generosity, the self-sacrificing example. I don't think anyone will thank you for your theological exegesis on the 2300 prophecy, however important that may be for edification, true conversion is the point. A change in the life. I just wish some Christian's could see what they're doing...it's frustrating. Some people spurn God not because they failed to see His love....but because a CHRISTIAN pushed them off the narrow path before they had a chance to get any footing. I just pray I've never done it. What Christians need to focus on is developing a Christ-like character...solves all our housing problems... |

A Huge MisunderstandingPosted : 24 Jan, 2010 10:03 PMdear folks, we dont need to worry ourselves so much about the differences we all believe in.. long as we got salvation down pat ..then we just need to concentrate on the two greatest commandments that JESUS gave to us .. an we will do just fine.. |
