Transgression of the law. Disobedience to the will of God.

Hi Guys!

Good question. Let me pose another question to ponder.

There are only two types of sins. Sins of Commission and sins of Omission.

Sins of Commission are things that we DO that we should not have done.

Sins of Omission are things that we don't do or should have done.

Can you list some for each category? Can you give some examples in scripture?

Blessings!

Walter.

So, would you consider it a sin if someone doesn't point it out when someone is being self righteous and possibly detering others? Even about matters of the Bible?

Wow...thanks for bringing that point up, lol. I wish it was easier to convince someone of their self-righteousness....because it so often IS the cause of a lost soul. Makes me sad. But unfortunately...it's not easy...and if you bring it up it usually just causes them to become even louder and more self-righteous...because, by definition, they think they're right most, if not all, of the time. Oh...and if, God forbid, they are ever right about something...then they go off the deep end, because they so easily forget when they were supposedly "wrong" and use this new success to prove they were actually right the whole time to begin with...you just tried to throw them off their perfect course. The term "lost cause" comes to mind, and its depressing. The only time I ever see any hope is when God Himself steps in and humbles them...so, I guess we have to do our best and hope God takes a hand in teaching them humility, because if we try to do it they will see it as an attack and possibly even seek to destroy you or your credibility. I don't like self-righteousness. A lot. If you can't admit when you're wrong, or admit there could be a possibility of you being wrong...then you don't believe you're human.

Thanks Don, or Mark, or DHTM, or ....... What would you like to be referred to as?? Lol!!

I totally agree with you! There's just something about a self righteous person that makes me feel somewhat ...... suspicious, I guess. Jesus wasn't self righteous and had every right to be!! But he chose to be humble. And I think that there is a nice and polite way of doing just about everything, we/I don't always choose that way (Ive lashed out plenty of times) but I'm more aware of it now and try to do better. And perhaps you're right, the best thing we can do is pray for God to work in these people and try to minimize the fallout in the meantime.

Thanks again,

T

What does the Bible say about Sin

I prefer and use the KJV but using the NKJV for these

GEN 4:7 If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.

ISA 30:1 Woe to the rebellious children says the Lord, Who take counsel, but not of Me, And who devise plans, but not of My Spirit.

JOHN 1:29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, behold ! The Lamb of GOD who takes away the SINS of the world.

PSALM 4:4 Be angry and do not sin. Meditate within your Heart on your bed, and be still. Selah

32:1 Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven. Whose Sin is covered.

51:3 For I acknowledge my transgressions, And my sin is always before me.

ROMANS 5:12 There fore just as though one man sin entered the world, and death through sin and thus death spread to all men because all sinned.

6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you for you are not under law but under grace.

2 COR 5:21 For he made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of GOD in Him.

EPH 4:26 Be angry and do not sin. Do not let the sun go down on your wrath

1 JOHN 1: 8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive our selves, and truth is not in us.

9 - If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

1 JOHN 2:

1- My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if any one sins, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the Righteous.

2 And he Himself is propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.

ObviouslySIN is jus not a good thing.an there are many books an stories in the Bible that while reading them. One will realize that no matter what we do without or against GODs will for us is purty much sinfulKing Saul is a good example of thisHe lost His Kingdom and everything GOD had blessed him with because He chose and used his free will selfishly..Luv Ya all.xo
