I want to pose a question, to bring peaceful communication to christians on this site, and defining a christian as one that is born again. Why Do believers seem so frequently, to not believe the word of God as the truth?

Your question covers so much. The Bible is set up to get us thinking about God and seeking Him. There are many mysteries in it. We can disagree about what we read and in the end none of us may be right. They didn't get the first comming of Jesus right, even though we can now see how plainly it was laid out. Daniel's 70 weeks in Dan.9 even has the date of Jesus' death right.

I believe that the universe was created less than 10,000 years ago. Lots of Christians think differently. I believe that the great flood happened and that he world shows the marks of it everywhere. Others don't see that.

When all is done here on earth, will it even matter?

I think, and I'm of the younger generation, that it has to do with not "fitting" into what they want to believe. For example, we are raised in a society where stealing is more acceptable than murder mainly because we see murder as being MORE of a crime. However, the Bible states that before God a sin is a sin. We have trouble with this and other issues because it doesn't make sense to our beliefs. Therefore we, as a society and young group of Christians, challenge the meaning of the Word. Also, I think we analyze for the time of which it was written versus the time of today. We use the difference in time to justify a false understanding of the Word. It is sad and we will have to answer for it someday. Thanks for the post!

Hi PhillipJohn,

Just curious... Is there something specific to your question? A certain area that you are seeing believers not believe as the truth in the word of God?

Yeah...there is only one truth...and many interpretations. Finding the right one is what gets argued over. I'm not sure if thats what you meant though....

I'm glad to see a post on here that doesn't have anything to do with the "rapture". lol. Some people have made some good points so far:

GlendoraMike:

"When all is done here on earth, will it even matter?"

stormcountry33:

"... it has to do with not 'fitting' into what they want to believe."

DontHitThatMark:

"Yeah...there is only one truth...and many interpretations."

I think a lot of times, we (Christians) don't really WANT to believe certain things. Prime example:

Jesus' command to give up everything we have and follow Him. Or not to worry about food, shelter, money. That God knows we need them and will provide them. We just have to seek His kingdom and righteousness first.

We try to justify ourselves by saying, "Well that was then. This is now. It's different." Or, "Well, He didn't mean it quite like that." This could be for a number of reasons. I think that is probably one of the top reasons we sometimes choose to ignore or interpret some things in scripture differently. Sometimes... it's just plain misunderstanding... personal experience. lol

I will say, however, that certain things are MEANT to be a mystery... revelations... ehem... lol. In these cases... it's like Mike said... "does it really matter?" Great post, man.

Yes mam the word of God, in any sense, for instance the majority on this site are not sure if the lord wants them to marry, and then they are not sure if they can know with confidence if they have the right one.

It definetly matters, most of what you said I would agree with, so what message do we have if the word of God is true?

My Question is where is the precedence to interpret? My point is to encourage people to question what and why they believe what they do. The only pattern I see in scripture is to believe.
