Adam and Eve alone?
Posted : 11 Jan, 2010 08:43 AM

Hey everyone, just throwing this out there for conversation and to see if I stand alone.... Not too long ago, in the church that I grew up in, there was a conversation on whether or not Adam and Eve were the only humans that God created. My pastor said that the bible, while not saying there were others created, does leave open the possibility that God created other humans after he created Adam and Eve. This blew my mind. Some Deacons and other leaders in the church didn't argue against this point. After a week of study I mentioned my beliefs on Adam and Eve being the ONLY humans that God created and the response I got was "does it really matter??" I just want to know if am I crazy or was I right to challenge the thought of other humans being created after Adam and Eve?

I believe God created all the races on the 6th day. Genesis 1: 26-27-28

Then he created Adam to tend to the Garden of Eden

Genesis 2: 7-8

If you think about it. After Cain killed Abel and was cursed from the earth he said

......... and I shall be a fugitive and a vegabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth be shall slay me. Genesis 4-14. So there had to be other people out there already, besides he found a wife and she had Enoch... and well you know the rest lol

Thanks John for your thoughts, but how do you interpret Genesis 3:20 "Adam named his wife Eve, because she would become the mother of all the living."?

hey storm, what i read does not tell me that he did nor does it imply he did.

and john, maybe you read something different to me. gen 2:1-5 and esp 5: " And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground." that sentence leads me to believe that the ground being addressing refereed to the entire earth.

what do you mean that God created all the races?

Everybody ever where in the world.

Go back to Gen 2 :26 And God said let us make man in "our" image, after "our" likeness and let "them" have ............

Remember this was before Adam.

If Adam was first then Eve, Where did the people come from that Cain was worried about and where did Cains wife come from?

First sorry for the typos LOL. I don't type real well on the keyboard and see the mistakes after posting. wish there was an edit feature LOL.

-------------------------------------------

Anyway! LOL

Read Genesis1:31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day

2:1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and the host of them.

I take that to mean, God put all the animals on.. earth... He put man on ...earth. Not just in the garden of Eden. But he populated the whole earth with both humans & animals. and food.

If after Cain killed his brother ,that would have only left Adam & Eve.

So again

1 Who were the people Cain was worried about?

2 Why did God say Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the lord set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him. Where did these people come from?

3 Cain dwelt in the lad of Nod ,on the east of Eden.

( Wandering) where did his wife come from?

No I am not a Doctor but you sound sane to me...jk I took it as you just wanted to ask a question to learn. I dont think you were wrong to challenge the thought. I would like to ask if the thought you challenged brought any reasonsable pondering thereafter on their part of to how they determined the answer to other humans beings been created after Adam and Eve? You may have felt it was over but it may be just on pause....give it time you never know what it did to them or you yet....God works mysteriously he seems to find away to amuse us...lol GivenLife

Well...I dunno...the bible doesn't say how old Cain and Abel were when Cain killed Abel. Maybe Adam and Eve took Gods command to fill the earth seriously. They lived a lot longer back then...maybe they had children faster too. Maybe Cain had a bunch of siblings. Maybe God's warning was also to any future generations. Anyway...I think Adam and Eve were the only humans at first. Eve was the first woman, and the mother of all living...so...would have been hard for a bunch of dudes to procreate.

Adam and Eve lived for a very long time and had many children (God commanded them to do so). back then there were little or no mistakes in DNA replicating...so it was alright to marry your brother or sister as there would not be any danger of genetic mutation. This is where the "people" came from and from where Cain got his wife.

The saying in"our" image is refering to The Trinity (our).

Is is ever right to question the teaching of your church leaders? Really the question should be "Is it ever wrong to question a teaching?" OF COURSE NOT. The book of Acts says that it is NOBLE (Acts 17:11) to prove everything by Scripture and Paul urges us to prove all things and hold fast that which is good (I Thess. 5:21).

Eve is the mother of all living. All humans are descended from Adam and Eve according to Paul (I Cor. 15; Rom. 5), and that is why all of the human race is in sin and needs redemption.

There is only ONE human race, for God has made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on the earth (Ac 17:20). The so-called races are all descended from the three sons of Noah and their wives. Now the grandchildren married cousins in the early days and there was no prohibition against marrying close family members until about 1000 years AFTER the Flood, during the time of Moses.
