1 Peter 2:1. Therefore, putting aside all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander, 2. like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation., 3. if you have tasted the kindness of the Lord. 4. And coming to Him as to a living stone which has been rejected by men, but is choice and precious in the sight of God. (NASB)
1 Corinthians 3.1 And I, Brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual men, but as to men of flesh, as in infants in Christ. 2. I gave you milk to drink, not solid food; for you were not yet able to receive it. Indeed, even now you are not yet able, 3. for you are still fleshly. For since there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not fleshly, and are you not walking like mere men? (NASB)
While having book sense does grow you intellectually, walking out your spiritual life in truth is what builds up your character, and your integrity. I think often we try to pretend we got it going on, and sometimes impress others with our worldly knowledge about stuff and even twist Gods word around at attempts to display spiritual wisdom. I value these particular scriptures because, for all of us, at some point we must get off the milk and into the real meat of living like the word says. One deep in the word can see through and see the real truth, and have the discernment when to stay away from some things and situations. A yielding heart does much for building the spirit soul. It does hurt sometime to grow, if you really want to grow. Milk, if you drink too much, produces gas; but the meat builds strength, muscle spiritual muscle. I hope you reflect and can relate to the depth of the scriptures Ive given to ponder.
Have a good day and start of your Holiday. Continue being the blessings you are, and Merry Christmas again!
Awesome Grace, it reminds me that true wisdom comes from God and that those that see themselves as wise are fools, for they have no true wisdom, for the Lord has a way of selecting unlikely vessels to carry forth His Wisdom, like choosing Moses over Aaron. Even the coined phrase, "out of the mouths of babes" is a reflection of that very thing.
I know back in my younger days when I thought of myself as sophisticated and complex, I had complex issues and problems.
As I grew in the Lord and in Faith, I came to see that simplicity is something very under rated by many. I find myself so much happier now that my life is simplified.
The Lord did not speak in complicated format, nor did He own a lot of stuff or try to impress a lot of people. Jesus walked. That is about as basic as it gets by any standards.
If you want to de-stress your life, simplify it. Cast off the things that complicate and sophisticate your life. Toss out or donate to charity your excess and luxury. Step back from the drama and apply the WWJD rule to things. Become the Child with childlike wonder. Let intellectuals be impressed with themselves and stand on the Word in its truest and simplest forms, for it is the devil that twists and complicates everything. Chaos is his way. The Way of the Lord is simple and easy to understand, and in many ways not difficult unless we chose to make it difficult by complicating it with chaos and confusion and exceptions.
If life is overwhelming you, try it and see if it works for you like it worked for me. I find a lot less frustration in my life now with so much less to worry and fuss about. Would make a Great New Years Resolution for the New Year.
Thank you for being such a blessing to us Grace, your knowledge of His Word shines bright for all of us!
I appreciate you and so many others on this site. All, I think God wants us to do is to be faithful to the "word of God" we "know", deep implanted in our own lives, and STAND on it, and share it! What WE know helps build up the others. The "babes" who ain't there yet!
This body of Christ has to be stronger and more discerning. Period. Not enough of us are truely willing to "walk the process out" . We give up to soon, so when a challenge or trial comes, we back out or dont' know what to do. Because we're not paying attention.
Well.... I'll stop here. I have alot of stuff rolling around the brain sometimes..... Thank you my sis... GraceMae
