Well, Deborah, that is a very "big" request...Let's see...Elohim, El Shaddai, Adoni, Jehovah-Jireh, Jehovah-Rophe, Jehovah-Nissi, Jehovah M'Kaddesh, Jehovah Shalom, Jehovah Elohim, Jehovah-Tsidkenu, Jehovah-Rohi, Jehovah-Shammoh, Jehovah-Sabaoth, Kadosh, Abhir, etc...and this is just some of the O.T. When looking at some of the names of God we can see that He is our Lord God Almighty, the Righteous Shepherd who provides, protects, heals, sanctifies, gives peace, who sits on High and saves!!

I have only touched on a few and have not even ventured into the N.T. When I look at this list I know that I am blessed by a "Father" who truely loves me and is taking care of me from my rising to lying down...as well as all of you! Thanks for this post. It brings to remembrance how awesome just the Name of our heavenly Father is....!

Deborah,

You pose a good question.

I think it would interesting to differenciate the names given to God the Father and God the Son.

Can you tell when the scriptures are referring to the preincarnate Christ in the Old Testament and when the scriptures speak of God the Father?

Remember that Jesus is not God the Father. They are separate beings yet part of a trinity.

There is a difference.

Blessings!

In Christ,

Walter

Hosea 2:16 And it shall be at that day, saith the LORD, that thou shalt call me Ishi; and shalt call me no more Baali.

Mathew 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

Mathew 1:23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Walter4u,

1 Timothy 3:16--And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

Jeanene, Thanks again.

The woman saith unto him,I know that Messias cometh, which is called CHRIST: when he is come, he will tell us all things. (John-4:25)

But I am the Lord thy God, that divded the sea, whose waves roared: The Lord of hosts is his name. (Isaiah-51:15)

Proverbs-30:4---------------- Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended ? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his son's name, if thou canst tell?

Rev.-19:11 and 13------ And I saw heaven opened ,and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.

And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called THE WORD of GOD.

Hi Jeanene,

Well so far no one has proposed what the "proper" name of God the Father is and what the name of God the Son is in the OLD Testament.

Clue. God the Father has never been seen by any man.

Clue. God the Son has visited the Earth in the form of a man more than once in the OLD Testament.

Clue. When God the Son became a man through he virgin birth, while He walked among us, He gave clues to what His name is in the Old Testament. It is easy to determine God the Son's name in the Old Testament. But what is God the Father's name?

Blessings!

Walter

Isaiah43:11 I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.

12 I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, that I am God.

15 I am the LORD, your Holy One, the creator of Israel, your King.

25 I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.

Isaiah44:6 Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.

7 And who, as I, shall call, and shall declare it, and set it in order for me, since I appointed the ancient people? and the things that are coming, and shall come, let them shew unto them.

8 Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.

22 I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee.

24 Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;

Isaiah45:

4 For Jacob my servant's sake, and Israel mine elect, I have even called thee by thy name: I have surnamed thee, though thou hast not known me.

5 I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me:

6 That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else.

7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.

11 Thus saith the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me.

12 I have made the earth, and created man upon it: I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens, and all their host have I commanded.

14 Thus saith the LORD, The labour of Egypt, and merchandise of Ethiopia and of the Sabeans, men of stature, shall come over unto thee, and they shall be thine: they shall come after thee; in chains they shall come over, and they shall fall down unto thee, they shall make supplication unto thee, saying, Surely God is in thee; and there is none else, there is no God.

15 Verily thou art a God that hidest thyself, O God of Israel, the Saviour.

21 Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me.

22 Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.

23 I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.

Isaiah49:26 And I will feed them that oppress thee with their own flesh; and they shall be drunken with their own blood, as with sweet wine: and all flesh shall know that I the LORD am thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob.

Isaiah48:12 Hearken unto me, O Jacob and Israel, my called; I am he; I am the first, I also am the last.

13 Mine hand also hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned the heavens: when I call unto them, they stand up together.

16 Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord GOD, and his Spirit, hath sent me.

17 Thus saith the LORD, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the LORD thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.

Isaiah47:4 As for our redeemer, the LORD of hosts is his name, the Holy One of Israel.

Walter4u, You are your mother's son. If you have children, you are their father. If you have siblings with children, you are their uncle. You are different things to different people but you are still one person. Because you are a father does that mean you can not be an uncle or a son? You can be all three and still be one person. So can GOD Almighty be the Father and the Son and the Holy Ghost! I believe GOD is Jesus and Jesus is GOD and nothing you can say will change that. The Word is truth. Read the scriptures.

John1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2 The same was in the beginning with God.

3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.

7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.

8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.

9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL! -- Jeanene
