2 Peter 1:4-12 Growth?

2 Peter 1:4 For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of {the} divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust. 5. Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in {your} moral excellence, knowledge, 6. and in {your} knowledge, self-control, and in {your} self-control, perseverance, and in {your} perseverance, godliness, 7. and in {your} godliness, brotherly kindness, and in {your} brotherly kindness, love. 8. For if these {qualities} are yours and are increasing, they render you neither useless nor unfruitful in the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9. For he who lacks these {qualities} is blind {or} short-sighted, having forgotten {his} purification from his former sins. 10. Therefore, brethren, be all the more diligent to make certain about His calling and choosing you; for as long as you practice these things, you will never stumble; 11. for in this way the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be abundantly supplied to you. 12. Therefore, I will always be ready to remind you of these things, even though you {already} know {them,} and have been established in the truth which is present with {you.}

This scripture I've been looking all this week. My thoughts for myself--it is so important for my mind to be stable and firm about what I believe and that I'm walking it out. If I have the qualities(verses 5,6, and 7)there is no way I will not produce fruit (good fruit) in deed or relationship to and with those seeking God's kingdom too. Never forgetting who I "used" to be but remembering whom I am and what blessing of service I've been called to do. I do have trial, but scripture is true, I never stumble.

I read a book last year that was completely devoted to this scripture. It's an inspiring bible verse (like all of God's Words are), and most helpful for any Christian to help see the authentic traits more clearly needed to be and become a more authentic Christian. But only by being connected to Christ daily through an intentional outreach and surrender will growing up in faith, love, truth, and even righteous service be remotely possible. I think most Christians know that at some level, but just as many more may want to experience the "fruit" apart from the Vine. They want to grow up, mature, ripen, but in that process forget which glory it is they seek and need. The glory attached to self, or the greater Glory of us all. Definitely, the truth discovered in the bible verse you picked out will keep all Christians on the right track for the right reason, and to do the right thing not only for one's personal walk of faith, but for the people God specifically places on your path. Thank you for your post!

Thank you Ms. GraceMae!

It has been a while since I've read those verses. It is telling how convicting Scripture is and how important it is to have Fellow Brothers and Sisters to remind us of who we are and to Whom we belong to.

There is a Natural Process of growing and walking in The Spirit...like a Path or a Road. Every step leads us to the next point in our journey. We can not stand still or stop...we must always be willing to learn (and be corrected) so as to move further on the path, just as Faith leads to Goodness leads to Knowledge leads to Self-Control and so forth.

Thank you again Grace....this will keep me munching (and thinking) on the word for a few days.

Will,

What was the title of that book you read? It would be great to be able to read it. I'm sure others here would enjoy it also.

Peace
