PridePosted : 21 Nov, 2009 04:21 AMI was reading in Proverbs this morning, and verse 4 says: "A haughty look, a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked are sin." At first I was like "Ok, pretty self-expanatory" and went on to the next verse. But I have been thinking about that verse all day. Maybe I just don't understand what pride is. Is it wrong to be proud of someone? I can't think of any other way to describe that feeling though. I can say that I am "happy" for someone, but it doesn't completely express the feeling. You say you are happy for someone when something good happens like the person just got engaged or something. I don't know, I am just trying to process this. |

PridePosted : 23 Nov, 2009 11:12 AMI think it is ok to be proud of people...maybe even proud of some accomplishments...but you have to be very careful that you don't start to think you're better then every one else. Thats what the bad pride is...to think you deserve special treatment over someone else, when in reality...you're the servant. Pride was in play at the last supper. But I do think there is a "pride" that is good. Paul talks about boasting in the new believers, but not of himself. |
