In a nut shell one glaring difference is that in the old testament you would have had to sacrifice an unblemished animal and use it's blood to cover your sins in order to be saved. But it would have to be done multiple times throughout your life time.

But in the new testament because Jesus sacrificed himself his blood is used to cover sins and all you have to do is to believe he died for your sins to be saved.

I think Jesus' teachings are even more demanding.

The teachings of Jesus are more demanding than the Law from Moses.

For example:

Jesus says,

“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. (Matthew 5:27-29)

Again, Jesus makes it even more difficult, Matthew 5:20-22.

20 For I say unto you that unless your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.

Then he goes on to say,

21 “Ye have heard that it was said by them of old, ‘Thou shalt not kill,’ and ‘Whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment.’

22 But I say unto you, that whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment; and whosoever shall say to his brother, ‘Raca,’ shall be in danger of the council; but whosoever shall say, ‘Thou fool,’ shall be in danger of hell fire.

So, Jesus is more demanding than the Law of Moses.

The Law of Moses allowed for divorce because the hearts of men were hard. But Jesus calls this all adultery. He speaks against divorce and he speaks against marriage after divorce. But the church is in love with divorce and so in love with marriage after divorce that it ignores the teachings of Christ on the matter and every other matter. Surely, Jesus teachings are more hard and more hard to swallow. (John 6:53-60)

But his sheep hear his voice and he guides them.

But who are the ones that love Jesus?

The ones that love him are the ones that obey his teachings. (John 14:15 and John 14:23-24)

All those things are true but nevertheless forgiveness for one's sins is there by confessing them and asking for forgiveness in Jesus name instead of going through a myriad of steps including sacrificing an animal in the hopes of achieving that same forgiveness.

Yes, yet

1 John 3:6

No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him.

1 John 3:9

No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God.

1 John 5:18

We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the One who was born of God keeps them safe, and the evil one cannot harm them.

It seems that more sin is deliberate and more of our sins are very deliberate. We choose to despise the commandments of the Lord and choose to disobey. Some of us even encourage others to do the same. Even from the pulpit, people are being encouraged to sin in one way and another. Even on this site, some encourage people to sin and want their sin taught from church as acceptable. These forums, we see again and again where people reject the Bible and encourage sins. Right is wrong and wrong is right.

I think people deceive themselves.

They think it is okay to sin and to continue to sin. It is all forgiven, they think.
