In the journey of Reading the Bible on Your Own, people arrive to different places at different times in their journey of reading the Bible on your own.

People arrive to grace.

People arrive to commands, instruction and laws.

People arrive to sins and calling somethings sins.

People arrive to particular Bible verses and particular explanations.

People see things one way, then see things another.

People commonly understand things some way, then with deeper reading understand it another.

As a young reader of the Bible, I understood some passages one way. Then later, I understood them another.

After studying the Bible more thoroughly, my understanding on some passages shifted.

I understood things with one light, then understood them with another light.

We are taught different things before we begin reading the Bible.

Different people are taught different things and different churches teach different things so the lense through which we see things differs from person to person. People can be sincerely wrong. The idea is that the more we read the Bible, the more we may come to a correct understanding of various teachings in the Bible. We can be right and we can be wrong. It is one big pudding. But the idea is that we correct one another with scripture and that we say our view with scripture. Definitely people see things differently. And not everyone reads the Bible. But those that read the Bible often shift. We go from one view to another. We change our position while we read the Bible. We go from one view to another on many things. Very definitely, I have arrived at different places at different times in my journey of reading the Bible and my understanding. I imagine that anyone that reads the Bible, such is true. People arrive at different places at different times while reading the Bible. It is all part of the journey.

Reading the Bible on your own, people arrive to different places on that journey. Th journey through life and the journey through the Bible. Perceptions often change. Depending on the light that is shined on it, we may go from one view to another. It is all a journey. We are all imperfect beings and we have imperfect views. BUT WHAT DO THE SCRIPTURES SAY? I think it is good to reflect on the scriptures. Yet the scripture is not much welcome many places. Students teaching students. No one is a master of scripture. But should we not welcome scripture?

You have to start with a proper Bible. I suggest Authorized King James because the Nestle-Aland, 27th edition, page 45 states that all new translations and revisions come under the supervision of the Vatican. I suggest praying with a humble heart before reading. I would further suggest getting alone with God to interpret scripture for you, even if that means taking time off from Church. We cannot just be spoon fed what the Preacher says about the Word. We must be responsible when handling God's Word. I've learned so much just simply reading quietly alone. I cringe when I think back to old mindsets that manifested out of others lenses and other's opinions in the Pulpit that were clearly not Holy Spirit led.

KJVonly, it’s sure good having you return to the forum‼️‼️

Past exchanges I’ve experienced with you makes me wanna praise you as a PERFECT discussion forum participant because you can carry on a conversation without calling names or falsely accusing those who disagree. You’re even happy to answer questions‼️

If you would like to discuss why you believe the KJV is the only true Bible and why all other translations are in error, you’re welcome to do that.

I think we had a brief discussion years ago but I can’t remember all that we discussed. Of course you know that I’m in disagreement with the KJVonly belief even though I like the KJV

If you would rather not discuss the topic at this time then that’s ok too.

Anyway—Good to see you back‼️

NoMoreUsernamesLeft also advocates for the Authorized King James version. From what he has said, it is THE ONLY ONE TO GO BY. He suggests that every other translation is of the devil, and as a matter of how some things get handled by some translations, you can understand why. Yet, my view is 1 Corinthians 14:9. " Yet in the church I would rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue." To me, the Bible is a proclamation of the Word. Jesus is THE WORD. And the Bible is "THE PROCLAMATION" OF THAT WORD. There are human factors in the writing of the Bible and in our having the Bible. Jesus said, “You have sent to John and he has testified to the truth. Not that I accept human testimony; but I mention it that you may be saved." (John 5:33-34) The Authorized King James renders it this way: " Ye sent unto John, and he bare witness unto the truth. But I receive not testimony from man: but these things I say, that ye might be saved."

Moses was faithful in all God's house. (Hebrews 3:2 and Hebrews 3:5) Hopefully, we will be faithful as well.

It is true that somethings get taken out of scripture. Like the ten commandments has been altered by one faith. The part about graven images was discarded by that faith. That is the faith that KJV ONLY lady is concerned about. But others are altering scripture text as well. The renditions become less faithful and more flawed all the time.

You’re saying that some scripture has been removed? On which ancient texts of scripture do you base that assumption? Could it be perhaps the KJV added words? I have a multiplicity of historic evidence based on a large number of textual studies of ancient scripture for suggesting that proposition.

I have read some renderings that omit Exodus 20:4.
