Rebuke your neighbor frankly so you will not share in their guilt. New Living Translation “Do not nurse hatred in your heart for any of your relatives. Confront people directly so you will not be held guilty for their sin. English Standard Version “You shall not hate your brother in your heart, but you shall reason frankly with your neighbor, lest you incur sin because of him. The Bible disagrees. Of course we do so in love for God and love for that other person. And we do so humbly lest we are tempted in the same way ourselves. 2 Timothy 4 Preach the Word 1I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of His appearing and His kingdom: 2Preach the word; be 👉prepared in season and out of season; 👉reprove, 👉rebuke, and 👉encourage with every form of 👉patient instruction. 3For the time will come when men will 👉not tolerate sound doctrine, but with 👉itching ears they will gather around themselves 👉teachers to suit their own desires. 4So they will turn their ears 👉away from the truth and 👉turn aside to myths. Many times these messengers from God preached very stern warnings to false worshipers and their false teachers. Some false worshipers and their teachers don’t like to be called out‼️‼️ Jesus said the world hated him because he exposed their hypocrisy and sin. How well did it go for Jesus when he exposed false worshipers and false teachers⁉️ Well, They killed him‼️ How well did it go for the Apostles and Prophets when they exposed sin and called false worshipers to repentance⁉️⁉️ They were mercilessly slaughtered‼️‼️ Jesus said they will do the same to you IF you follow him‼️‼️ Post Reply

I could share a dozen verses and look up a few more when my head feels better. But the verses I thought of forefront on your desire to confront people, I'm reminded of a passage in Ezekiel. Ezekiel 3:18-20 When I say to a wicked person, ‘You will surely die,’ and you do not warn them or speak out to dissuade them from their evil ways in order to save their life, that wicked person will die for their sin, and I will hold you accountable for their blood. But if you do warn the wicked person and they do not turn from their wickedness or from their evil ways, they will die for their sin; but you will have saved yourself. “Again, when a righteous person turns from their righteousness and does evil, and I put a stumbling block before them, they will die. Since you did not warn them, they will die for their sin. The righteous things that person did will not be remembered, and I will hold you accountable for their blood. So, for your salvation and for others' salvation, you need to confront people, or you are guilty for not correcting them, and you are accountable to God for that. it is an unpleasant task to confront people for their deeds. More, in mind of self reflection, we seek to remove a speck from one person's eye while having a board in our own, and Jesus says to first remove the plank from our own eye, so that we will then see clearly to remove the speck from someone else's. And as you state from Paul, that we are guilty of doing the same thing. So, it is hard to confront sin. David did not well confront the sin of his son Amnon after his own sin with Bathsheba. We become compromised. All of us are lawbreakers. The Bible does say that as iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another. Yet, sometimes we dull one another. Everyone hardens one's heart to some extent. Many of us know what the scriptures say and do otherwise. But if we want to please the Lord, we do what he says. So, it is good to correct one another and we all need correction. If we aren't correcting, we are not doing our Bible job. But we need to self-correct as well. And that is hard to do.
