Fav. Translation/sPosted : 29 Oct, 2009 10:24 PMRandom question for everybody... What is your favorite translation of the Bible to use? To study? To teach from? For pleasure reading? Or just in general? |

Fav. Translation/sPosted : 31 Oct, 2009 04:46 AMGood Point Ole Cattle, I think we all have our favorite, but I agree it is important to have other translations to check against and I am not good with old world translation, but LOVE to listen to a preacher who is good with it, as my Pastor is. When you are studying something to look at all the translations and editions, often it just opens up that Word, and Speaks Louder to your Heart than it did previously under one translation. |

Fav. Translation/sPosted : 31 Oct, 2009 05:33 AMI like my KJV. For those who get confused with thee, thou, you, and ye, just remember if it starts with a t its singular and if it starts with a y its plural. Ok, that concludes your bible study for the day, run along now chiwen and behave. |

Fav. Translation/sPosted : 2 Nov, 2009 06:46 AMYeah, KJV...I'm of the feeling that it's dangerous to go with hebrew/greek sometimes. People have "re-translated" stuff one too many times in my opinion. Men change. Translations change. Words change. God's word shouldn't be subjected to "re-translation"...I guess I have a little bit of blind faith about the KJV....but it's the only thing I trust. Heard too many arguments about "this word means this in the original greek!", "No, it means this!"...just seems like truth is hard to find when you bring man's reasoning into it. But I am assuming that God inspired the KJV when it was translated, and not some others. I don't know that...I just believe it. It is kinda weird that the "KJV" is supposed to be "holier" for some reason... |
