Miracles Have Ceased

Many people today believe that God is still working miracles like He did in the first century. Many people say that they can speak in tongues or heal the sick, or that they know people who can. But the Bible does not teach this idea. A miracle in the Bible was a supernatural act. It was an event that was beyond the usual course of nature—like restoring sight to a man blind from birth, or raising a dead person (like Lazarus) from the grave. The Bible teaches that miracles happened in Bible times for a very specific purpose: to confirm the Word (Mark 16:20; Acts 8:6; Hebrews 2:3-4). How did miracles “confirm the Word”?

When an inspired speaker stepped forward to declare God’s Word, God confirmed His Word by having the speaker perform a miracle to show that he was from God. The miracle showed the hearers that God was behind the speaker’s remarks. Miracles authenticated the spoken word as God’s Word. Miracles verified the teaching of God’s messengers, as over against the many false teachers (read John 3:2).

Paul stated that miracles would cease and be done away when the “perfect” (or completed Word of God) had been revealed (1 Corinthians 13:8-10; James 1:25). Those things that were incomplete and partial (miraculous gifts) would be replaced by the total and complete (the fully revealed Word of God). Once God revealed all of the information that He wished to make available to people, the need for miracles to confirm the oral Word came to an end. Now, people can sit down with a New Testament, the written Word of God, and, with honest and diligent study, conclude that it is God’s Word. We have absolutely no need for miracles. Since there are no apostles living today, and since Holy Spirit baptism was unique to the apostles (Acts 2) and the first Gentile converts (Acts 10), there is no Holy Spirit baptism today. Likewise, there is no miraculous healing today. All those on whom the apostles had laid their hands are also dead (Acts 8:18). Once the last apostle died, the ability to perform miracles could not be passed on to others.

The Bible teaches that miracles are no longer necessary since we have everything we need to function in this life, to be pleasing to God, and to survive spiritually (Read 2 Peter 1:3).

🤔🧐

oh me oh my brother David . This is one heck of a hot hot🔥🔥topic

And we see that as the era of the apostles drew to a close, healing, like tongues, became less frequent. The Apostle Paul, who raised Eutychus from the dead (Acts 20:9-12), did not heal Epaphroditus (Philippians 2:25-27), Trophimus (2 Timothy 4:20), Timothy (1 Timothy 5:23), or even himself (2 Corinthians 12:7-9). The reasons for Paul’s “failures to heal” are 1) the gift was never intended to make every Christian well, but to authenticate apostleship (2 Corinthians 2:12; Hebrews 2:4); and 2) the authority of the apostles had been sufficiently demonstrated.

"Fluffy Bun", aired on January 10, 1984. In the ad, actress Clara Peller is served a burger with a large bun and a small patty from a fictional competitor. Peller then angrily asks, "Where's the beef?" The commercial was part of a campaign to differentiate Wendy's "modest" Single from the larger burgers of competitors like McDonald's and Burger King

🤷‍♂️🤷‍♀️🤷 If first century Church miracles are still performed today

like they were back then, then where's the beef 🍔/ the proof ❓❓

EXACTLY RIGHT‼️‼️‼️

Why does the “Great Healer”,(ie 👉👉👉fake healer👈👈👈 Benny Hinn), keep quadriplegics and other people that Benny can’t pretend to heal, secured in a “waiting room” that’s outa sight of cameras until the “healing” service is over⁉️⁉️⁉️

These poor people go home the way they came‼️ It’s so sad‼️‼️‼️

Yet STUPID people go to Benny Hinn “healing” crusades to watch cheap fake healing charades as they clap and raise their hands‼️‼️‼️

But all the disciples of Oral Roberts have faith that the money will keep coming in, AND IT DOE$$$

It is a sure thing for them "Ask and it will be given." And the sure thing is the money.

Unlike so many, we do not peddle the word of God for profit. (2 Corinthians 2:17)

Some think that godliness is a means to financial gain. (1 Timothy 6:5)

But I do hope for a miracle or two. I would like a life filled with miracles.

We all would love to have miracles in our existence. I would love to see just one of the miracle like the those Jesus did.

But you’re right, the money just keeps coming in for some false teachers. Like Joel Olsteen says: “Your Best Life Now”.

The only way life on this earth could be “your best life now” is if you’re headed straight for hell

As Jesus points out in Luke 12:19.

And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.”’

And as Paul says, 1 Corinthians 15:32, "If the dead are not raised, “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.”

Nice to have some enjoyment out of life. But I'm not seeing this as live your best life now.
