Thinking for yourself yet asking for help- the biblical balance

I am going to start a new topic called "Thinking for yourself yet asking for help- the biblical balance."

Let me start by saying a quote by Christian apologist Francis Schaefer: "Christianity is a thinking man's religion." Just because you become a Christian doesn't mean you throw your brains out the window, it is the total complete opposite, you have to use your mind all the more to make your own decisions according to Scripture when it comes to place your faith in Christ and all other decisions(see Genesis 2:15-17; John 3:16-17 and Acts 17:10-15). Yet there is the other side to this in asking for help according to scripture by being careful who we ask for help from(see Phil 2:1-4; psalm 1). It takes asking for wisdom from God to maintain this balance with His help. Nobody else can do your thinking for you, you need to take personal responsibility for the way you think, no one else. I pray this teaching will be a blessing to you in Jesus name.

Excellent post.

Some people can’t seem understand balance. If they read or hear something that SEEMS paradoxical they default to a crippled funk-type of eisogesis consisting of our-of-context selective scripture yanking. That’s called “cherry pick interpretation”.

Maintaining a balanced and harmonious treatment of scripture is called Systematic Theology

Amen to that brother little david. Taking scripture out of context and balance is extremely dangerous because you can make an incomplete or false doctrine out of it. 2 Peter 3:14-18 illustrates this perfectly. Praise the LORD for your post, thank you.
