Hi Happy,

I'll see if I can find what you're reading regarding animail sacrifices in this verse..

Jeremiah chapter 33: verse 15, says: In those days and at that time I will cause to grow up to David a Branchof righteousness; He shall execute judgment and righteousness in the earth...

Happy, where are you reading anything about animail sacrifice, or did I misread your post? This chpater is about God fulfilling His promise to Abraham and David in the New covenant.... is your question from Isaiah or Jeremiah chapter 33 as posted ?... help a sista out and explain yourself as to what you're asking...{*_*}

Oooohh, corn flakes... (kicking my feet in the sand)... thanks, Happy for your kind compliment.

Yes, it is speaking about the priesthood of Christ the new covenant. Remember, the priests were corrupt and stealing and drunk all the time and carrying on craziness before God. God decided a new covenant had to be establish through Christ., with someone who would be true and faithful without sin(Hebrews chapter 10). Christ secures the covenant and promises, He is the fulling of the promise to Abraham and David, and Israel from God, and will be saved through the preaching of the gospel Jesus Christ who continue the priesthood forever and is the promised covenant.

YOu know, I have not studied much in Jereimiah, although I do know that this is what Jeremiah is speaking about...

Hmmm... Jeremiah 33:15-16 (NIV) " 'In those days and at that time I will make a righteous Branch sprout from David's line; hw will do what is just and right in the land. In those days Judah will be saved and Jerusalem will live in safety. This is the name by which it will be called: The Lord Our Righteousness.' "

Jeremiah 33:17-18 (NIV) "For this is what the Lord says: 'David will never fail to have a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel, nor will the priests, who are Levites, ever fail to have a man stand before me continually to offer burnt offerings, to burn grain offerings and to present sacrifices.' "

The messiah that was foretold in the Old Testament was Jesus. So... I guess the answer to HALF of your question is Yes. It is Jesus. Now as for the OTHER half of your question... I don't believe that these scriptures say Jesus will make animal sacrifices. Let me explain...

In Jeremiah 33:17-18, it never says that the messiah will offer animal sacrifices. Basically, it sounds to me like the Lord is saying that David will always have a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel, just as the Levites will always have a man offering burnt, grain, and other sacrifices to the Lord. I don't believe it's referring to the messiah who was to come.

In verses 15-16, scripture says that Judah will be saved and that Jerusalem will live in safety. This was already fulfilled, I believe. The messiah will offer safety. You just have to choose His path. Jesus offered this to us all, as He still actively does. People from the line of Judah WILL be saved, so long as they put their faith in the messiah that was foretold... Jesus. I hope this is clear. It is a little late over here. lol
