1 Samuel 17 (48-49) David kills Goliath.

So it was, when the Philistine arose and came and drew near to meet David, that David hastened and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine. Then David put his hand in his bag and took out a stone; and he slung it and struck the Philistine in his forehead, so that the stone sank into his forehead, and he fell on his face to the earth

The Flying Circus of Physics." David slung the first stone that hit with such momentum it burrowed into the giant's forehead. The sling had a flexible pocket with two straps attached, made taut by pulling it in a vertical circle several times to build up kinetic energy. Then the knotted strap was released, sending the stone toward the target. The sling could hurl a stone of 25 grams (about 1 oz.) at 100 kilometers per hour (62 mph) to hit something 200 meters (656 ft.) or more away

In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ 1 Peter 1:6-7

Perseverance when facing your giant. David did not pull a “Jonah” and try to run away from the challenge. David did not say that it was someone else’s problem, not his. He ran toward the giant to engage in battle. But he took with him five smooth stones. Why five stones? Why not one stone? I only have one guess. If David missed, he was ready to take another shot at Goliath. David was not about to turn and run away. David was not about to give up and crumble under this difficulty. David took his stand and he was going to sling his stones until he hit Goliath. David was ready to persevere. That is what our giant is supposed to teach us is perseverance.

And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance… Romans 5:3

Indeed we count them blessed who endure. You have heard of the perseverance of Job and seen the end intended by the Lord—that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful James 5:11.

We cannot give up in trials. We need to be ready to reload and fight through our circumstances. The five stones suggest that he was ready to keep trying. He was going to fight Goliath to the end. If he failed, he would simply try again until this giant was defeated

1 Peter 2:8

and, “A stone that causes people to stumble and a rock that makes them fall.” They stumble because they disobey the message—which is also what they were destined for

aerospace physicist scientists put their faith and propulsion systems -- Jesus Christ asks us to put far less faith of a mustard seed into him to move our mountains and our Giants

Matthew 17:20

He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you
