Colossians 1:28 Whom we preach, warning every person, and teaching every person in all wisdom; that we may present every person perfect in Christ Jesus
Compare Colossians 3:16
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and warning one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
We cannot separate these two. All the members of the Body of Christ are to be teaching and warning. It isn't just Paul and Timothy who do it. it is every believer. May God help us so that the Body of Christ functions the way GOD WANTS IT TO.
Ohio, can we also add 1 Corinthians 14 verses 26 - 33
26 What then shall we say, brothers? When you come together, everyone has a psalm or a teaching, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation. All of these must be done to build up the church.
27 If anyone speaks in a tongue, two, or at most three, should speak in turn, and someone must interpret.
28 But if there is no interpreter, he should remain silent in the church and speak only to himself and God.
29 Two or three prophets should speak, and the others should weigh carefully what is said.
30 And if a revelation comes to someone who is seated, the first speaker should stop.
31 For you can all prophesy in turn so that everyone may be instructed and encouraged.
32 The spirits of prophets are subject to prophets.
33 For God is not a God of disorder, but of peace—as in all the churches of the saints.
When the 'church' people meet they violate these Scriptures, thus their meeting is not of GOD Almighty, BUT the neigh sayers will continue to prop up the so called 'church'.
Quiz, once again, you have the distinguished gift of ignoring context.
Perhaps if you had read the entire chapter, which addresses the chaos created by folks showing off their tongue talk, maybe you might have arrived at a better understanding.
It seems the Corinthian folk were more eager to show off their spiritual gifts than in edifying the congregation.
Didnt Paul’s letter contain some correctives for the Corinthians?
Seems if you wanted a more balanced treatment covering church conduct you would have taken a closer look at Paul’s letter to Timothy
Ok, some thoughts on 1 Corinthians 14 verses 26 - 33
26 What then shall we say, brothers? When you come together, everyone has a psalm or a teaching, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation. >>>>All of these must be done to build up the church.<<<<
27 If anyone speaks in a tongue, two, or at most three, should speak in turn, and >>>someone must interpret.<<<
(Seems some Corinthians compare well to Roman Catholics reading or speaking in Latin that nobody understood.) What good is that???
Other people, liked the priests, try to make a big deal over how much Greek and Hebrew they know. But after listening to them, it becomes apparent they don’t have the gift of interpretation—making things clear so others can understand.
28 But >>>if there is no interpreter, he should remain silent<<< in the church and speak only to himself and God.
(If there no gifted interpreter, then the speaker should just keep quiet)
29 Two or three prophets should speak, and the others >>>>should weigh carefully what is said.<<<<
(This is supposed to be carried out by those gifted in discernment and prophecy) Any O’wind bag can’t start spouting off nonsense without being subject to correction or accountability.
30 And if a revelation comes to someone who is seated, the first speaker should stop.
That’s easy enough, for example, a speaker reads a scripture and another gifted person reveals the meaning of the passage. See Ezra
31 For you can all prophesy in turn so that everyone may be instructed and encouraged.
Obviously assuming a level of giftedness
32 The spirits of prophets are subject to prophets.
Obviously there’s accountability here as opposed to some maverick yeyhoo coming in and babbling nonsense
33 For God is not a God of disorder, but of peace—as in all the churches of the saints.
Pretty clear there
But here’s something A MAN said—-which makes absolutely no sense at all: “When the 'church' people meet they violate these Scriptures, thus their meeting is not of GOD Almighty, BUT the neigh sayers will continue to prop up the so called 'church'.” —-the author shall, of course, remain anonymous in order to protect his remaining pride
Dave, i believe you posted your critique of 1 Cor. 14 -26-30

Quiz:
Dave to sum up your critique, you assume there is to be a LEVEL of giftedness.
What level do you believe any person needs to be before they are to meet with other believers according to the Scriptures in 1Corinthians 14 verses 26-30.
It is obvious that most of the 'christians' are not up to LEVEL,as they do not meet according to the posted Scriptures.
The average 'church' meeting
The mcee anounces
Let's pray( Let's is a contraction of Let us ) yet no one is given the chance to pray except the mcee.
Let's worship,( worship, or worthship, is to attribute value to someone or something) yet no one has anything to worthship, not a song hymn, spiritual song etc. as the so called worship band takes all the time that the people are to have to worthship Messiah.
After 45 minutes of singing 3 songs, the people are told to sit down.
Next the club dues are asked for and buckets, baskets or anything else are passed around.
Next, some announcements are made.
Next Let's pray, and then the people are dismissed to get some refreshments( does this sound like going to the movies, or some other social event ).
The people take their seats and the mcee again says, Let's pray, again silence from the people.
The mcee then reads from the Bible, tells a few jokes, tells the people what he believes the Bible says,he talks about half an hour, then says Let's pray, followed by more silence.
Then the mcees says Let's worship, again the band entertains the sheeple with a song.
The mcee again says,Let's pray, more silence, then the sheeple are allowed to leave the pen.
I had forgotten, once a month they have juice and crackers, but not before they confess some sins.
Dave, am i close with this description of the average 'church' SERVICE,does this not violate 1Corinthians 14 verses 26- 30.
Of course their might be some that say, Quiz, why are you talkimg about MY 'church', I,ME,MINE,three words that describe ownership.
I will build MY ASSEMBLY,and the gates of Hell will not prevail against me from building my ASSEMBLY.
Yes, I agree with you Quiz, WAY too many “churches” compare EXACTLY to your characterizations. I believe many of those self-proclaimed “churches” are false churches. I’m in full agreement with you here.
The only thing I find disagreeable is your broad brush universal caricature which assumes all churches everywhere are the same. Even Jesus, in the book of Revelation, didn’t assume a one-size-fits-all churches. Each church should be judged accordingly.
Your measuring rod of righteousness, however, seems to be derived from a new self-imposed 501C3 holiness standard.
