just as the baseball player begins at home plate we begin with a relationship with Jesus at the beginning. We see our need for forgiveness and realize that he is the one who can change our lives. Then Jesus points us to first base, and it is there that we begin the process of turning our lives completely over to him. This is where we let God have all of us, complete ownership





Second base represents the loving relationship that we must have with others, the community base. The divine love that God pours into our lives at first base, spills out into the lives of those around us on second base. Third base is where we begin to see the results of our faithfulness to God. The fruit of our labors begin to show as God gives results to our faithfulness



however we cannot score by staying on third base, satisfied with the secular or spiritual success found there. We must continually look toward home plate where we began with God and his purpose, and where we must end



scoring at home plate may be summarized by the complete surrender to God’s purpose for us found in Romans 12:1,2, “So, brothers and sisters, because of God’s mercies, I encourage you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice that is holy and pleasing to God. This is your appropriate priestly service. Don’t be conformed to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds so that you can figure out what God’s will is—what is good and pleasing and mature”



@ home plate we give ourselves away completely to God and to others, there we see God’s purpose fulfilled through us, and there we score eternally. How well are we running the bases?
