" I don't ask for much, I only want your trust,
And you know it don't come easy.
And this love of mine keeps growing all the time,
And you know it don't come easy"
50 years ago Ringo Starr penned recorded and released this hit song
You know It Don't come easy
2000 years ago our precious Lord God Jesus Christ spoke and his producer the Holy Spirit inspired men of God to pen down those holy inspired words which became nothing but hit songs
Now on to the point one of those greatest eternal chart toppers is Matthew 8:19 to 20 .............then a certain scribe came and said to Him, “Teacher, I will follow You wherever You go.” And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.”
Teacher, I will follow You wherever You go: With the miracles associated with the ministry of Jesus, following Him might have seemed more glamorous than it really was. Jesus perhaps received many spontaneous offers like this.
“I wonder if this man thought, ‘Well, now, I am a scribe. If I join that company, I shall be a leader. I perceive that they are only fishermen, the bulk of them; and if I come in amongst them, I shall be a great acquisition to that little band. I shall no doubt be the secretary.’ Perhaps he may have thought that there was something to be made out of such a position; there was one who thought so.” (Spurgeon)
A hit song from the early '80s that helps to sum up who we really are or are not when it comes to trusting Jesus Christ
Should I stay or should I go? -- The clash
Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head: .......... Jesus didn’t tell the man “No, you can’t follow Me.” But He told him the truth, without painting a glamorized version of what it was like to follow Him. This is the opposite of techniques used by many evangelists today, but Jesus wanted the man to know what it would really be like.
“In the immediate context of Jesus’ ministry, the saying does not mean that Jesus was penniless but homeless; the nature of his mission kept him on the move and would keep his followers on the move.” (Carson)
“Many homes, like Peter’s, were open to him, but he had none of his own.” (France)
The reason this man turned away from Jesus was because Jesus lived a very simple life by faith, trusting His Father for every need and without reserves of material resources. This is just the kind of thing that would make Jesus more attractive to a truly spiritual man. “Here is a man who lives completely by faith and is satisfied with few material things; I should follow Him and learn from Him.”
for when it comes to following Jesus Christ there should be no doubt like the young rich ruler who was out of key out of tune with Christ's upbeat plan for his life
Matthew 19:21
Jesus answered him, “If you wish to be perfect [that is, have the spiritual maturity that accompanies godly character with no moral or ethical deficiencies], go and sell what you have and give [the money] to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me [becoming My disciple, believing and trusting in Me and walking the same path of life that I walk].”
We should write songs together when we put our trust in him we will have life abundantly and therefore never be out of his time signature --
The popular rock band U2 had a hit song in the early 80s called " 40 "
based the course off of Psalms 40
" I waited patiently for the Lord
He inclined and heard my cry
He lift me up out of the pits
Out of the miry clay
I will sing, sing a new song
I will sing, sing a new song "
When we put our faith and trust in Jesus Christ then the fiery trials will be easier
1 Peter 5:7
Amplified Bible
casting all your cares [all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully]
