fix a flat fairy tales episode 15 -- how to become a SUNDAE SCHOOL teacher

Once again people fix a flat teddy seems to think that Christians today are still bound by all of the old testament laws . ... . Except when it comes to violating Torah law for example breaks the Sabbath Exodus 35 :2 must be put to death " then somehow miraculously that doesn't apply they find solace in the New testament forgiveness i Hebrews 8:12 For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more " how convenient! ............. so in order to shed some light on this I will use the book of Leviticus to disprove the wannabe SUNDAE SCHOOL teacher

please pay close attention to " Speak to the sons of Israel saying…” He gives instructions to the Israelites, not to the rest of the nations " which by the way was 538–332 BC

" never able to do as commanded, like the Bible says in the TORAH LAW! Like for instance the HOLY PERFECT 7th DAY SABBATH and the PERFECT Biblical DIETARY LAWS that protect YHWH's people from sickness and disease by NOT eating them! " -- fix a flat Teddy

Leviticus says not to eat shellfish (Lev. 11:9-12), use mixed seed or fabrics (Lev. 19:19), harvest the corners of fields (Lev. 19:9), and that homosexuality is wrong (Lev. 18:22; 20:13). If homosexuality is wrong because Leviticus says so, then shouldn’t we also obey the other laws about shellfish, seed, fabrics, and fields because that is in Leviticus as well? If not, then why not? Why would Christians pick and choose what parts of the Bible to follow?

First of all, not all of Leviticus is written to everyone. There were abominations that applied only to the Jews such as eating shellfish, rabbit, and pork, etc., which were things that typologically represented purity before the Lord. We know this because God says, “Speak to the sons of Israel saying…” He gives instructions to the Israelites, not to the rest of the nations

Here is a list of instances when the occurrence of the phrase “Speak to the Sons of Israel saying…” is found in Leviticus, the book under consideration.

Lev. 4:2, atonement for unintentional sins

Lev. 7:23, don’t eat fat from ox, sheep, or goat

Lev. 7:29, procedures for peace offering to the Lord

Lev. 11:2, list of animals the Israelites may eat

Lev. 12:2, uncleanness after giving birth

Lev. 23:24, rest on 1st day of 7th month

Lev. 23:34, Feast of Booths on 15th day of 7th month

Lev. 24:15, the one cursing God will bear his sin

So, we can see a host of things that dealt only with Israel.

However, there are abominations that did not apply only to Israel, but to everyone else also. Again, let’s look at Leviticus.

Lev. 18:22-30, “You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination. 23 Also, you shall not have intercourse with any animal to be defiled with it, nor shall any woman stand before an animal to mate with it; it is a perversion. 24 Do not defile yourselves by any of these things; for by all these the nations which I am casting out before you have become defiled 25 ‘For the land has become defiled, therefore I have visited its punishment upon it, so the land has spewed out its inhabitants. 26 But as for you, you are to keep My statutes and My judgments, and shall not do any of these abominations, neither the native, nor the alien who sojourns among you 27 (for the men of the land who have been before you have done all these abominations, and the land has become defiled); 28 so that the land may not spew you out, should you defile it, as it has spewed out the nation which has been before you. 29 ‘For whoever does any of these abominations, those persons who do so shall be cut off from among their people. 30 ‘Thus you are to keep My charge, that you do not practice any of the abominable customs which have been practiced before you, so as not to defile yourselves with them; I am the Lord your God.’”

What abominations is Lev. 18:22-30 speaking of? Contextually, chapter 17 is about blood atonement procedures, so that is for Israel, not for everyone. In Chapter 18 God says to Israel, “You shall not do what is done in the land of Egypt where you lived, nor are you to do what is done in the land of Canaan where I am bringing you,” (Lev. 18:3). So, now instead of it applying only to Israel, God mentions things that are done by Egypt and the land of Canaan. What were the things those nations did? The chapter contains the following.

Lev. 18:6-18, don’t uncover the nakedness of various relatives.

Lev. 18:19, don’t have sexual relations with a woman on her period

Lev. 18:20, don’t have intercourse with your neighbor’s wife

Lev. 18:21, don’t offer children to Molech

Lev. 18:22, don’t lie with a male as with a female

Lev. 18:23 don’t have intercourse with animals.

So, we see there are requirements in Leviticus only for the Israelites, and there are lists of abominations spoken of that were for the non-Israelites as well. It is in the latter group that homosexuality is listed. It is a mistake for people to mix topics intended only for Israel with topics that included the non-Israelites. Furthermore, when we see that the New Testament condemns the idea of homosexuality in Romans 1:26-27, we could see the continuity between Old Testament moral law and New Testament moral law.

Three divisions of the Law in Leviticus

This is important because the civil and ceremonial laws are not in effect now, but the moral law is. Let’s take a look at these divisions within the book of Leviticus since it is the book under examination.

Civil – Expired with the demise of the Jewish civil government

Justice practices (Lev. 24:17-23)

Law of property redemption (Lev. 25)

Be just with the poor, (Lev. 19:15)

Do not hate in your heart (Lev. 19:17)

Retain just scales in commerce (Lev. 19:35f)

Robbery, extortion, false witness, and restitution (Lev. 6:1-7)

Ceremonial – Expired with the fulfillment of priestly work of Christ (Matt. 3:15)

Various sacrificial offerings for sin (Lev. 1,2,3,4,5,6)

Priestly duties (Lev. 7:1-37)

Laws on animals for food (Lev. 11:1-47)

Cleaning house of a leper (Lev. 14:33-57)

Law of Atonement (Lev. 16:1-28;17:1-16)

Regulations for Priests (Lev. 21,22)

Festivals (Lev. 23:1-25)

Moral – No Expiration because it is based on God’s character. “You shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy,” (Lev. 19:2)

Do not steal or lie (Lev. 19:11)

Do not oppress your neighbor (Lev. 19:13)

No idolatry (Lev. 26:1-13)

Don’t sacrifice children to Molech (Lev. 20:1-5)

Don’t commit adultery, incest, bestiality, homosexuality, etc. (Lev. 20:9-21)

You shall love your neighbor as yourself (Lev. 19:18)

Are we to dismiss Leviticus along with the idea of being holy, of loving our neighbor, and that God will walk among us in the person of Jesus? Of course not. To do so by saying we are not under the Law displays deep theological ignorance and exegetical prejudice.

There are certainly aspects of Leviticus which are no longer applicable to us today (civil and ceremonial), but there are other parts that still are, as is stated above in the moral aspect of the Law that was intended as admonitions not just against Israel but the other nations as well.

Who are we to believe the SUNDAE SCHOOL teacher or the real SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHER ??

“Don’t you see that nothing that enters a person from the outside can defile them? For it doesn’t go into their heart but into their stomach, and then out of the body.” In saying this, Jesus declared all foods clean.” Mark 7: 18 - 19

Once again people rsvp shows his sweet SUNDAE SCHOOL teaching as a 'christian' by his self definition in showing his 'humility' (like another thread I called him out in) in calling names once again - ' fix a flat teddy' ??? He has already discounted himself 100% off to his readers by just posting here alone the evidence of his NON Christian attitude by example here to readers!

But lets look at rsvp's selective salad bar 'old testament laws' he >attempts< to do away with?

Dear readers! Was Adam and Eve and their children 'Jewish' or 'Israel' yet not named that yet but kept the Torah Law??? SURE DID!

Was Abraham 'Jewish' or 'Israel' yet not named that yet but kept the Torah Law??? MOST CERTAINLY DID!

Example Genesis 4:4 - Abel brought forth a offering/sacrifice to fulfill OT Torah Law BUTTTTT was not a 'Jew' or 'Israel' and rsvp FAILS to notice these simple common sense facts! Does that mean we give of those animal offerings and sacrifices today? Of course not! Those offerings all POINTED FORWARD to when Christ would sacrifice himself for repenting >>>PAST<<< sinners!

Did Abraham offer those animal sacrifices and keep the Torah Law BUTTTTT was not a 'Jew' or 'Israel' ALSO and rsvp FAILS ONCE AGAIN to notice these simple common sense BIBLICAL CONTEXTUAL facts!

Genesis 26:5, NIV: 'because >>>Abraham obeyed me<<< and did everything I required of him, >>>keeping my commands, my decrees and my instructions.<<<'

Genesis 26:5, ESV: 'because >>>Abraham obeyed my voice<<< and >>>kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.<<<'

Does this mean the Torah Law 'saves' anyone??? Of course not! It ONLY shows our FAITH and obedience in His perfect Torah Law! The Torah Law saves NO ONE but ONLY condemns those >>>TO DEATH<<< (not eternal torment!) that break it!

rsvp posts - Ceremonial – Expired with the fulfillment of priestly work of Christ (Matt. 3:15???)

Example quote of rsvp that lumps it with ceremonial animal offering laws to dietary laws - Laws on animals for food (Lev. 11:1-47)

You read it right here dear readers, from rsvp's own JAWS in the unchanging HOLY Torah Dietary Law given to ALL mankind, even to those adopted 'Gentile' converts to 'Israelites' ways but now claims they expired!? That's right dear readers, rsvp now teaches the NT 'taste bud' law that you can eat anything that moves, including your filthy SWINE, cat, dog or even cockroaches etc... LOL! Just like his grandpa pathetic7744 says - so yummy for the tummy!

Then strangely rsvp writes contradicting himself - 'Are we to dismiss Leviticus along with the idea of being holy (and not eating abominations?), of loving our neighbor, and that God will walk among us in the person of Jesus? Of course not. To do so by saying we are not under the Law displays

deep theological ignorance and exegetical prejudice. AMEN says Ted!

There you have it readers, we should NOT dismiss Leviticus Dietary Law that NEVER changes, nor does it even hint in the Bible that those Laws are done away with, for we shall not supposedly be under them any longer, for they are for our own good and our health to keep those UNCLEAN dead creatures OUT of our fleshly temples!

The CONTEXT of Mark chapter 7 is about TRADITIONS! THUS, note again the context that rsvp tries his best to leave out in Mark chapter 7 in rsvp's sweet chocolate 'SUNDAE SCHOOL' teaching !?

Mark 7:5 'And the Pharisees and the scribes *asked Him, 'Why do Your disciples not walk in accordance with the >>>tradition of the elders<<<, but eat their bread with unholy hands?' ... They eat without first performing the hand-washing ceremony.

Mark 7:8,9 'You have >>>let go of the commands of God<<< and are holding on to human >>>traditions (of the elders)<<< . 'And He continued, 'You have a fine way of >>>setting aside the commands of God<<< in order to observe your own >>> traditions (of the elders)<<<!'

Quote of rsvp stated in Mark 7:18,19 'Don’t you see that nothing that enters a person from the outside (food with dirty hands according to the >>>traditional<<< Pharisee law) can defile them? For it (the dirt) doesn’t go into their heart but into their stomach, and then out of the body.' In saying this, Jesus declared all foods clean even when eaten with dirty hands!.”

as you can see from the fix a flat Teddy quote below he still insists that we have to maintain the Torah dietary regulations but the Bible says otherwise

" There you have it readers, we should NOT dismiss Leviticus Dietary Law that NEVER changes, nor does it even hint in the Bible that those Laws are done away " -- fix a flat Teddy

WRONG !!

Christians are free to eat or not eat whatever they please – and no one should think themselves more right with God because they eat or don’t eat certain things. As Romans 14:14 says: I know and am convinced by the Lord Jesus that there is nothing unclean of itself; but to him who considers anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean.

WRONG AGAIN !!

So, as Paul wrote in Colossians 2:16: So let no one judge you in food or in drink.

1 Timothy 4:3

Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth

Barnes commentary notes on this........ It's worth the read

And commanding to abstain from meats, ... - The word "meat" in the Scriptures, commonly denotes "food" of all kinds; Matthew 3:4; Matthew 6:25; Matthew 10:10; Matthew 15:37. This was the meaning of the word when the translation of the Bible was made. It is now used by us, almost exclusively, to denote animal food. The word here used - βρῶμα brōma - means, properly, whatever is eaten, and may refer to animal flesh, fish, fruit, or vegetables. It is often, however, in the New Testament, employed particularly to denote the flesh of animals; Heb, Matthew 9:10; Matthew 13:9; Romans 14:15, Romans 14:20; 1 Corinthians 8:8, 1 Corinthians 8:13. As it was animal food particularly which was forbidden under the Jewish code, and as the questions on this subject among Christians would relate to the same kinds of prohibition, it is probable that the word has the same limited signification here, and should be taken as meaning the same thing that the word "meat" does with us.

To forbid the use of certain meats, is here described as one of the characteristics of those who would instruct the church in the time of the great apostasy. It is not necessary to suppose that there would be an "entire" prohibition, but only a prohibition of certain kinds, and at certain seasons. That "this" characteristic is found in the papacy more than anywhere else in the Christian world, it is needless to prove. The following questions and answers from Dr. Butler's Catechism, will show what is the sentiment of Roman Catholics on this subject. "Question: Are there any other commandments besides the Ten Commandments of God? Answer: There are the commandments or precepts of the church, which are chiefly six. Question: What are we obliged to do by the second commandment of the church? Answer: To give part of the year to fast and abstinence. Question: What do you mean by fast-days? Answer: Certain days on which we are allowed but one meal, and "forbidden flesh meat."

Question: What do you mean by days of abstinence? Answer: Certain days on which we are forbidden to eat flesh meat; but are allowed the usual number of meals. Question: Is it strictly forbidden by the church to eat flesh meat on days of abstinence? Answer: Yes; and to eat flesh meat on any day on which it is forbidden, without necessity and leave of the church, is very sinful." Could there be a more impressive and striking commentary on what the apostle says here, that "in the latter days some would depart from the faith, under the hypocritical teaching of those who commanded to abstain from meats?" The authority claimed by the papacy to issue "commands" on this subject, may be seen still further by the following extract from the same catechism, showing the gracious permission of the church to the "faithful." "The abstinence on Saturday is dispensed with, for the faithful throughout the United States, for the space of ten years (from 1833), except when a fast falls on a Saturday. The use of flesh meat is allowed at present by dispensation in the diocess of Philadelphia, on all the Sundays of Lent, except Palm Sunday, and once a day on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday in each week, except the Thursday after Ash Wednesday, and also excepting Holy-week." Such is the Roman Catholic religion! See also Peter Dens' Moral Theology, pp. 321-330. It is true that what is said here "might" apply to the Essenes, as Koppe supposes, or to the Judaizing teachers, but it applies more appropriately and fully to the Papal communion than to any other body of men professing Christianity, and taken in connection with the other characteristics of the apostasy, there can be no doubt that the reference is to that.

Which God hath created - The articles of food which he has made, and which he has designed for the nourishment of man. The fact that God had "created" them was proof that they were not to be regarded as evil, and that it was not to be considered as a religious duty to abstain from them. All that "God" has made is good in its place, and what is adapted to be food for man is not to be refused or forbidden; compare Ecclesiastes 5:18. There can be no doubt that in the apostasy here referred to, those things would be forbidden, not because they were injurious or hurtful in their nature, but because it might be made a part of a system of religion of self-righteousness and because there might be connected with such a prohibition the belief of special merit.
