Admin	Pow wows with the holier than thous -- touch not God's anointed Posted : 22 Apr, 2021 07:18 AM Our forum superhero A is for Adam J is for Jack's 7777 posted a hit piece on bro David, Moon , and myself bearing the title from Leviticus Insinuating that we are gossipers tail bearers scandal mongers but this is to be expected from the heretical sinless perfectionist with a holier than thou attitude " Thou shalt not go up and down as a talebearer among thy people: neither shalt thou stand against the blood of thy neighbour; I am the Lord " a holier-than-thou attitude is pride displayed through words or actions when people consider themselves more righteous or moral than other people, based upon their own standards of judgment people with a holier-than-thou attitude also fall into the trap of legalism. Legalists think that their keeping of rules will curry favor with God, and so they tend to put more emphasis on outward behaviors than inward heart motivations. This is the opposite of God’s priorities 1 Samuel 16:7 The legalistic Pharisees of Jesus’ day had holier-than-thou attitudes. They considered themselves expert keepers of God’s Law and thus closer to God than other people such as the sinless perfectionists such as Adam and fix a flat teddy........... ........ but Jesus pointed out that they had missed the whole point of the Law. In Matthew 23:23, Jesus said, “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.” Those who enjoy their holier-than-thou attitude often gravitate toward those with whom they can compare themselves favorably Holier-than-thou people don’t respectfully engage in discussions about ideas; they belittle, sermonize, and grow angry when challenged. They demand respect but rarely give it. They speak in absolutes even when the Bible doesn’t sinless perfectionists also have a " touch not God's anointed " attitude as found in Psalms 105:15 thinking this helps to insulate them from scrutiny and allows them to spread falsehood and bad theology unrestrained but if they have any wisdom at all they should adopt this quote from Jesus and repent for their prideful holier than thou arrogance Matthew 7:5 You hypocrite!
