This thread is because the accuser of the brethren is doing his job to be only an accuser, and also attempting through whatever methods is at deceptions disposal, to use to make crooked what is straight.
Because it seems popular to encourage the thought that backsliding is permitted by God, and that there is an option or opportunity to make it, to that victory of God, I am going through the thoughts.
Firstly, 2 Peter 2 reveals how escaping this worlds trap of the deceitful lying devil, is not a successful escape, when the people become entangled in it again, in fact they are much more cursed by blasphemy ( we assume that's allowed by Christ when it is not)..
All we need to do is look at the words that testify to us, when the greater one is on somebody, THEY OVERCOME THE WICKEDNESS, the world is weaker and defeated by the stronger..
2 Peter 2:20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.
1 John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
Further proof, and to understand it simply, is when the person is born of God, they overcome the world, and clearly, the ones born the flesh and not born of God, backslide and overcome nothing, as nothing is in them, these have NO FAITH, this is WHY, they do not overcome the world..
1 John 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
The message to the world then is, good overcomes evil, also good KEEPS the works unto the end, where is BAcksliding ?

Now in Revelation, this continues to give us more description, how the testimony of Christ overcomes the devil, also the ones who love their lives (backsliders in faithlessness) lose their lives eventually, but the ones who lose their life in faith to Christ, do not love their lives ever and until the death..
John 12:25 He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.
Revelation 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
Revelation continuing, and making it simple, no confusion here, the devil makes the war, has made it for 2000 years, and has power to overcome all that dwell upon the whole earth, APART, from those who have their names written in the book of life..
Revelation 13:7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.
8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
Those who do not have the name of the deceptive devil in them, get the victory over the beast, which is over the name of lie, I suppose they do not know they have( it is shown here but who seems to know ?)
Isaiah 44:20 He feedeth on ashes: a deceived heart hath turned him aside, that he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, Is there not a lie in my right hand?
Revelation 15:2 And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God.
Anyway the war continues ( as it has since Christ preached the Kingdom of Heaven) but the Lamb overcomes them, as He did overcome them, and the ones with Him always were from the beginning, chosen and FAITHFUL..

This then in 1 Corinthians 5 is a confuslon and comforting scripture for backsliders ?

The instruction to not accompany with fornicators is commanded, to avoid their own destruction, which happens to THE WICKED..

10 Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world.
Just putting together all he verses that make all clear, is what the deceivers never do, so lets do it.

Continuing with the PURE HEART, (this is faith) but the vain teachers understand nothing of what they speak of ( their own words and not 100 percent Gods word of faith ever)
The proof this time highlights Apostle Paul, who did the evil when in UNBELIEF) no backsliding there, they clearly in unbelief are never believers in Christ, but Paul is placed into grace and forgiveness to show ALL LONGSUFFERING, not the backsliders lying idea of true example..

The deceivers delivered to satan, destroy the faith, they are rejected to blaspheme to themselves, as the wicked and fornicators are not in the faith..

All I can say is that I was never as clean or good as I thought I was before I backslid. The desire to commit the sins I committed was always there but suppressed as a younger Christian.
I had the basics of Christianity down but did not know Jesus or God anywhere near as much as I thought I did or others perceived I did.

My hand slipped off the plow and then I looked back to the old life once again, the old sinful nature won me back!
It's not so much the sins themselves that damage you but the motivation behind them. I knew the things I was doing were wrong but out of frustration and I would say self entitlement at the time I did them anyway. Eventually I ended up in a bad place with nowhere to hide. After truly confessing my sins I started to climb the mountain back, then have carried on. I suffered some punishments in this life but once I acknowledged I'd bought everything on myself things steadily got better. I'd say there was a period there where I was unsaved but God still protected me until I turned back. Goes back to that line about not tempting the Lord your God by throwing yourself onto the rocks. I certainly have enough fear to not go out of my way to trouble the Spirit again.
I'm going to cover Gods rules again. (it's not salvation to believe in our own ideas, thoughts, words or wishes.)
Israel confessed their sins, but they did not forsake them, because they were unable to without that new covenant of Christ writing His laws into the hearts. That's fact 1.

Jeremiah 31:22 How long wilt thou go about, O thou backsliding daughter? for the Lord hath created a new thing in the earth, A woman shall compass a man.
Now God HEALS and loves backsliding Israel, feeding them as lambs and turning His anger away from them..
Hosea 4:16 For Israel slideth back as a backsliding heifer: now the Lord will feed them as a lamb in a large place.
Hosea 14:4 I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely: for mine anger is turned away from him.
This leads into 1 Peter 2, describing us as sheep going astray (backsliding) to now return to our Shepherd, who bore our sins (backsliding) in His own body on the tree to HEAL US..
