All is about faith, there is no doubt in that, but who has faith ?
Christ crucified is a stumblingblock to the Jewish religion,. because He alone achieved the victory, and to this worlds wisdom it is foolishness, because it is spiritually discerned.
God needs to call them then, to understand the power (Christ dying on the cross is the power) and this is also, all the wisdom of God, which this world cannot know. 2 Corinthians 13:4. 1 Corinthians 2:7-8. 1 Corinthians 2:14. This is what PLEASES God..
1 Corinthians 1:21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:
23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;
24 BUT UNTO THEM WHICH ARE CALLED, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
To these same Jews, and to the Greeks also, we are told to look unto Abraham, as God CALLED Abraham ALONE....
Isaiah 51:2 Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah that bare you: for I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased him.
Abraham believed in the hope of God, as he was called by God to do so, Abraham was strong in faith although his body was now dead. Abraham is given the promise of the seed (Christ) through believing to have an only begotten son.
Abraham has righteousness imputed, (by being called and given the spiritually discerning belief)) and the same righteousness is imputed to us also, if we believe on God who raised our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ from the dead, delivered for the offences we did, raised again for the justification..
Romans 4:18 Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.
19 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb:
20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;
21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
22 And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.
23 Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him;
24 But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;
25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.
Just as the Lord has shown, as God had promised for Abraham, now Jacob has the same confirmations, finding this grace from the Lord, and how we PLEASE GOD..
Genesis 33:10 And Jacob said, Nay, I pray thee, if now I have found grace in thy sight, then receive my present at my hand: for therefore I have seen thy face, as though I had seen the face of God, and thou wast pleased with me.
Finally after the Patriarchs, the seed came to whom the promise was made, and that seed is Christ...
Galatians 3:16 16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.
Galatians 3:19 Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.
Now the testimony of the Messiah, is that no deceit is in His mouth, yet it PLEASED THE LORD, to bruise the Messiah, to put Him to grief, as He made His soul an offering for sin, that is to see His seed, (Christ) to prolong His days, THE PLEASURE OF THE LORD PROSPERS IN HIS HANDS, confirmed to be the Spirit of the Lord, His chosen ( remember in all called to believe, as Abraham also was called alone) in whom THE LORD IS WELL PLEASED, showing judgment to the Gentiles...
Isaiah 53:9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.
10 Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.
Matthew 12:18 Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles.
Here is the significance for the voice of God stating He is WELL PLEASED, in His beloved Son.
Because not only this shows how all of the things had pleased the Father, in calling us by the foolishness of preaching, in calling Abraham alone, in the Son being the sacrifice for sins, but now here is the totality of the significance, and we really do well if we hear this right, now, as the LIGHT, shining in our hearts and the day star arising in the night...
2 Peter 1:17 For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
18 And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.
19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
The message so far was simple, God does all which pleases Him. The Son pleased the Father. The Son did no deceit, yet had to have all grief, as this is the sacrifice to the Father, to take sins away.
Now though, we realize the other side of all things, is the ones who do not please the Father.
With covetousness, and pretending words, many follow when the way of truth is evil spoken of.
God gave as example, how the entire world did not please Him, and was destroyed, Noah called to preserve life was spared who preached righteousness against the unrighteousness..
The angels also reserved to judgement.
Just Lot was delivered, the cities all around Lot were condemned, and the righteous man Lot had his righteous soul vexed from the unlawful deeds of the ones God overthrew which are ALL EXAMPLES TO THOSE THAT AFTER SHOULD LIVE UNGODLY..
2 Peter 2:2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.
3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.
4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;
6 And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;
7 And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:
8 (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)
Bit back on faith, Enoch was translated as he had this testimony: THAT HE PLEASED GOD, and it is faith, that we PLEASE HIM, and we need that faith( to be called) to believe God is a REWARDER OF THEM THAT DILLIGENTLY SEEK HIM as to do good, GOD IS PLEASED WITH SUCH SACRIFICES..
Hebrews 11:5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Hebrews 13:16 But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
Back again then finally on the Hebrews in the wilderness.
Of course God was not well pleased with them ( the Father was well pleased in the Son)
Now the examples the Jews did and had on them, is they lusted, they were idolaters, they committed fornication, they tempted Christ, they murmured, these are for our admonition, then, LET THE ONES WHO THINK THEY STAND TAKE HEED, LEST THEY FALL..
1 Corinthians 10:5 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.
7 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.
8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.
9 Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.
10 Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.
11 Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
Now the message all comes together and is clear, to not PLEASE OURSELVES, BUT TO PLEASE OUR NEIGHBOUR, FOR HIS GOOD, AS EVEN CHRIST PLEASED NOT HIMSELF, but was reproached also, for our sake..
Romans 15:We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.
2 Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification.
3 For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me.
All is about faith, there is no doubt in that, but who has faith ?

Adam why would you quote a verse (Genesis 33:10) that contains part of a conversation between Jacob and his brother Esau? Jacob was comparing the seeing the face of Esau to seeing the face of God.
This is an ever reoccurring matter that challenges the credibility of your posts because you insist on whimsically and frivolously quoting portions of scripture out of context

LittleDavid, is right that I misquoted Genesis 33, and I notice he had no other complaint about all of this thread, or maybe would have shown what he found as incorrect.
Sometimes we have pressures on us in this life, such as Jacob who I was considering, and I remembered the strength Jacob had with God, and I thought God was pleased with Jacob there.
I also know to please God is very true, and I can continue in how Jacob managed in his difficult time, when Esau came against Jacob with four hundred men and Esau was appeased and took the blessing/present Jacob gave him and his men.....
Genesis 33:1 And Jacob lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, Esau came, and with him four hundred men. And he divided the children unto Leah, and unto Rachel, and unto the two handmaids.
Genesis 33:10 And Jacob said, Nay, I pray thee, if now I have found grace in thy sight, then receive my present at my hand: for therefore I have seen thy face, as though I had seen the face of God, and thou wast pleased with me.
11 Take, I pray thee, my blessing that is brought to thee; because God hath dealt graciously with me, and because I have enough. And he urged him, and he took it.
Which reminds me how God is our refuge and strength and the very present help in time of need..
Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Also that began when Jacob was ready to be born, how he took his brother Esau by the heel, he had power over the angel and prevailed..
Hosea 12:2 The Lord hath also a controversy with Judah, and will punish Jacob according to his ways; according to his doings will he recompense him.
3 He took his brother by the heel in the womb, and by his strength he had power with God:
4 Yea, he had power over the angel, and prevailed: he wept, and made supplication unto him: he found him in Bethel, and there he spake with us;
The thread is comparing Jesus not pleasing Himself, but pleasing others, which is pleasing God.
Israel not gathered is us not pleasing ourselves, as often the Lord would have gathered them as a hen gathers her chickens, yet they would not. God calls this world to see how the Lord is our strength, as man is a very insufficient strength or help to deliver us..
Isaiah 49:5 And now, saith the Lord that formed me from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob again to him, Though Israel be not gathered, yet shall I be glorious in the eyes of the Lord, and my God shall be my strength.
Psalm 33:16 There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength.
17 An horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength.
18 Behold, the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;
19 To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.
Psalm 147:10 He delighteth not in the strength of the horse: he taketh not pleasure in the legs of a man.
11 The Lord taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy.
Back to strength and how it explains pleasing the Lord God more than I knew.
To love the Lord with all our strength and all our mind and our neighbour as ourselves.
The God of grace calls us to His eternal glory by Jesus Christ, to make us perfect, stablish and strengthen us.
So be watchful, as I hope I am being, and sharing, to strengthen the things that remain, which without strengthened are ready to die, by pleasing ourselves and not pleasing the Lord and pleasing our neighbours, which are when our works are not perfect before God..
Luke 10:27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
1 Peter 5:10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
Revelation 3:2 Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God.
