Hello, I think the answers, (some being excuses), are a few in number. I love the Word and have studied it for many years now...
I think perhaps a lot of people do not want to 'invest' themselves, by way of time and needful 'thinking upon things', in order to come to a place of truly being aware of 'the mind of God' as He has made available through reading of the Word, and then prayer...
Perhaps it is similar to the situation regarding Mt Sinai. (Exodus chapters 19:16-20:20)They say the 'want to know' but do not want to be 'accountable in the first person'... Their fear was that 'if God spoke with them - they might die'. Perhaps in some way, people who do not want to read the Word are also afraid that they become 'accountable' for what they have read, and having been challenged to stand for something directly given to them via the bible and witness of the Holy Spirit upon their soul, they choose instead, to 'stand afar off' and when challenged as to their convoluted beliefs and twisted theologies, try to point the finger at 'the middle man' - who told them 'it is so'...
When a persons chooses to read a mans book, then rely upon the thoughts of that person, are the people not rejecting the Word of GOD, and the Holy Spirit.
Messiah says, the Holy Spirit will lead believers into ALL truth, where do we find truth, Messiah and the Scriptures.
I Am the way, the TRUTH and the life...
My words, they are spirit, and they are life.
They are spirit, and truth.
By relying upon the words of men, are the people then making man and mans message their holy spirit.
So sad when people want the words of man instead of the Word of GOD Almighty.
I agree that it is indeed sad... but I do not think they are making a man their 'holy spirit'... If they choose to receive the words of a man who speaks in direct contradiction to God's Word, then they have surely stumbled, and if they stay in that place, they become even more vulnerable to the wolves that hide, and wait, just off the sure path, in the shadows of the Darkness of Deception.
Such as a well-known preacher who, because he could not reconcile his own theological indoctrinations, with the truth of God's Word, declares that a person can take the Mark and still be saved. It is a painful truth, that he will have much to account for...
I wish there was a notification when a response is made to a post... Am I missing something? I only saw your reply to me in that I was in search of other topics and ended back up on this thread...
Quiznos, just asking to make sure I understand where you’re coming from.
Are you saying we shouldn’t borrow from the authority of men’s words only instead we should appeal to the authority of God who is greater? In other words, we should be more willing to quote from God more often?
Or are you saying we shouldn’t quote from men period?
I have posted a few books on this site, but i do not place those or any of mans books above the Scriptures.
Let me ask you a question.
What is wrong with teaching the people how to read, study and translate the Scriptures.
Why do the so called pastors use the peoples money to buy sound systems, large tv screens, speakers, mics and other technology to waste that on a so called worship band, instead of teaching the people to read, study, and translate the Scripture.
How about using the stuff to teaching the people the names of GOD Almighty.
How about letting the people speak, tongues, interpretation, revelation, prophesy, TEACHING, instead of keeping them silent.
Maybe that is why people read books about the Scriptures, instead of reading the Word for themselves.

Which has power to save and change peoples lives, books from men, or the Word of GOD Almighty.
Another question, i do not listen to the radio much, but when i do, IF i turn on a statoin with christian people that talk about the Word of GOD Almighty, why do the speakers always push a book they have written, as though their books are superior to the Scriptures.
I agree, the word of God isn’t center stage in some churches.
False teachers and theologians have done a good job twisting scripture. They’ve been playing into the hands of gullible sinners who DON’T WANT to know what the Bible says about sin for fear of having to give it up.
I’ve met and have listened to many “pastors” who don’t even believe the very first chapter of the Bible, Genesis 1! Too many “pastors” reinterpret this portion and other scripture so they can apply the latest secular **humanist interpretation** of science and philosophy to scripture!!
And the people just love it!!
Staying biblically ignorant has become virtuous. After all, keeps you from “judging“ others who don’t want to change their behavior!! How sweet!!
A huge number of evangelicals believe interpreting the Bible is impossible because they’ve read Bart Ehrman or Dan Brown’s books or others like them.
Evangelicals, need to heap up false teachers to shield them from getting convicted too much about sin.
Feminists have been making inroads into the church by teaching that women have the right of leadership and teaching over men. Last I checked, I think it’s at least half of Evangelicals who now believe in women preachers !!
Many “pastors” and their people believe the Bible is moldable and can be interpreted any o’way they want and you better not judge because that means you’re a conservative bigot
