I heard someine say that people should forgive themselves.

I cannot find this in the Scripturs.

If i have to forgive myself, then what was the purpose for the Messiah to be hung upon the cross.

Exactly right

What do people really mean when they are said to “forgive themselves”?

Are these people trying to assuage an inner guilt?

Did they wound their pride or embarrass themselves doing or saying something dumb and now they feel obliged to “forgive themselves”?

It’s obvious that no one can forgive their own sin, we should know. But what about those embarrassing and annoying public faus pas’?

I confess l have a natural penchant in the fine art of publicly embarrassing myself, it’s very depressing, you might just as well call me Master Faus Pas!

But the vanity of “self forgiveness” is nothing more than an anecdotal placebo.

Why not acknowledge the fact God saw fit to remove a huge chunk of my inner pride by allowing me trip over it ??

Now I can ask >>God<< to forgive my pride. Hopefully I will precede with more humility

Another “forgiveness” and “love” fallacy sounds like this: “l love them and will forgive them in the Lord but I don’t have to like them.”

Folks, that’s a pagan notion nowhere found in scripture.

No one has EVER sinned against you like you have sinned against God!!! What if God were to “love and forgive” you the way you “love and forgive” others ????

God commands us to be imitators of him!!

Yes, I feel convicted !! I can already think of ways I need to start practicing that!!
