Matthew 18:15

“If another believer sins against you, go privately and point out the offense. If the other person listens and confesses it, you have won that person back.

Luke 17:3

So watch yourselves!

“If another believer sins, rebuke that person; then if there is repentance, forgive.

Galations 6:1

Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself.

James 5:19-20

My dear brothers and sisters, if someone among you wanders away from the truth and is brought back, you can be sure that whoever brings the sinner back from wandering will save that person from death and bring about the forgiveness of many sins.

Absolutely correct a person, shoes that you love them and are concerned for them; beware of retaliation.

When you say "beware of retaliation", do you mean from the other person or do you mean beware being retaliatory?

Also, rebuking someone can sometimes be done more out of concern for a third party, who was wronged by the second party, than for concern for the second party.

Retaliation from the other person.

Where does the third person show up.

The third party is someone else who you see being wronged by someone. You're the first party, the person doing the wrong is the second party, and the person being wronged is the third party.

Yes it's absolutely right to rebuke them, and in some cases you may even have to exclude them from your life...:-)
