8/22/2020 Seventh Day Baptist Edgewater Pastor Keith “Book of Ruth part 3”Posted : 22 Aug, 2020 03:10 PMWhat about Tamar? She is in the genealogy of Christ. She was not treated justly according to the kinship relationships. She had a husband whom God killed. The brother was told to raise children by Tamar but he did not because he did not wish to give seed to his brother, probably with regard to the inheritance. The brother was slain by the Lord. Tamar hoped for another brother to be given her as husband. But her father-in-law didn't do the proper and customary duty. So Tamar dressed as a harlot and get father in-law conceived with her. Three months later when it was evident she was pregnant, he ordered that she be burned. But she had the tokens he had given her when he conceived with her. He said she was more righteous than he was, because he did not betroth her to his living son. |
