Suicide: The WORLDS calls Mental health issues OR Biblical issues of UNBELIEF!!!
Posted : 16 Jul, 2020 11:03 AM

Hello everyone.

Over the past 5 or more years a number of christians have killed themselves for various reasons.

A few of the reasons people have resorted to suicide are; depression, legal issues from sexual abuse cases, pride because of not living up to certain church expectations, unforgiven sin and a host of other reasons.

The WORLD says these people suffered from MENTAL HEALTH PROBLEMS, as such they world attributes these MHP with problems people have experienced, or are presently experiencing now in their lives.

As believers are we to take the WORLDS understanding, or are we to believe what GOD Almighty says in His Word.

The WORLD does not believe what GOD Almighty says, the world makes excuses for what people believe, and how the live.

The WORLD says the person is the way they are because of the circumstances in their lives.

GOD Almighty says a person is as they are because of UNBELIEF.

Concerning DEPRESSION, the way the world deals with this is to use drugs, drink alcohol or sick-cology therapy.

A lot of these sick-cologists prescribe mind and mood altering drugs to try to alter the way a person thinks.

Wbat is sad, is that a lot of the drugs that are prescribed can be the cause of a person killimg themselves.

What does GOD Almighty say, let us look at Psalm 42

5 Why are you in despair, O my soul?

And why have you become disturbed within me?

Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him

For the help of His presence.

6 O my God, my soul is in despair within me;

Therefore I remember You from the land of the Jordan

And the peaks of Hermon, from Mount Mizar.

7 Deep calls to deep at the sound of Your waterfalls;

All Your breakers and Your waves have rolled over me.

8 The LORD will command His lovingkindness in the daytime; And His song will be with me in the night,

A prayer to the God of my life.

9 I will say to God my rock, “Why have You forgotten me? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?”

10 As a shattering of my bones, my adversaries revile me, While they say to me all day long, “Where is your God?”

11 Why are you in despair, O my soul?

And why have you become disturbed within me?

Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him,

The help of my countenance and my God.

In the Word of GOD Almighty we see that people that experience DEPRESSION, or other problems in their lives are encouraged to trust GOD Almighty.

Suicide is not how GOD Almighty says believers are to deal with this worlds system, or with problems we experience, as the result of decisions we make.

What does GOD Almighty say:

1 Corinthians 10 verses 12 - 14

12 Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed that he does not fall.

13 No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.

14 Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry.

**DO ALL BORN FROM ABOVE CHRISTIANS SUFFER PERSECUTION**??

Romans 8:35-37: “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?... For your sake **WE FACE DEATH ALL DAY LONG**; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered. No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us!”

John 13:34: Jesus says, "A **NEW COMMAND** I give you: **LOVE* one another As I have **LOVED** you, so you must **LOVE** one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples." John 15:12,13: Jesus says, "My command is this: **LOVE** each other as I have **LOVED** you. Greater **LOVE** has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.

I John 3:16: This how we know what **LOVE** is: Jesus Christ laid down His life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers!

I Peter 2:20b,21: But if you **SUFFER FOR DOING GOOD** and endure it, this is commendable before God. To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow **IN HIS STEPS**!

I Peter 4:12,13: “Dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering, as though something strange were happening to you. But **REJOICE THAT YOU PARTICIPATE IN THE SUFFERINGS OF CHRIST**, so that you may be overjoyed when His glory is *REVEALED!”

Matthew 5:10-12 Jesus says, “Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven. Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. **REJOICE** and be glad, because **GREAT IS YOUR REWARD** **IN HEAVEN**!!"

2 Timothy 3:12: “In fact, **EVERYONE** who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be **PERSECUTED**!”

Romans 5:3: “But we **REJOICE IN OUR SUFFERINGS** because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope!

Philippians 1:29: For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe on Him, but also to **SUFFER FOR HIM**!

Philippians 3:10: “I want to know Christ and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of **SHARING IN HIS SUFFERINGS**!

Revelation 12:11: “They overcame him {666} by the **BLOOD OF THE LAMB** {**CHURCH SAINTS**} and by the word of their testimony; for they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death!”

Rev 2:10: Jesus says, “Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the **CROWN OF LIFE**.”

Matthew 24:3,9-13: The disciples {**CHURCH SAINTS**} asked Jesus, “What will be the sign of your Coming and the end of the age?? Jesus answered….. {During the Great Tribulation} “Then **YOU** will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and **YOU** will be hated by all nations because of Me. At that time many will turn away from the Faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of *MOST* will grow cold, {THE GREAT APOSTASY} but he {The Called, Chosen & Faithful-Rev 17:14 below} who stands firm to the End will be saved.”

Revelation 17:14: They will make war against the **LAMB** but the **LAMB** will overcome them because He is **KING** of kings and **LORD** of lords and with Him will be His **CALLED** **CHOSEN** and **FAITHFUL** followers. {This will take place right after the Resurrection of all of God's saints and the Marriage Feast of the **LAMB** as per Revelation 19:7-20!!}

True Christians are not the only ones who suffer persecution. However, Christian’s may be the only ones who suffer unjustly.

False prophets and false teachers like Joseph Smith, Jim Jones, Sun Myung Moon and other false teachers and prophets like them, suffer persecution perhaps justly, but worse, they will never get rewarded for it.

The most important thing is to be a true believer who believes God’s word and acts on it and who doesn’t try to change God’s word to suit his own purposes.

Sorry Quiz, I had to answer an off topic post.

But you’re right. Some suicides are only selfish sinful people acting out in a spirit of “unbelief”, like the guy who got turned down by a girl.

So he just gets in his car, parks in her driveway and kills himself.

The moral of his story is this: You better marry me and do what I say or else I’m gonna kill myself and make you look really really bad and it will be your fault I’m dead!!

Too bad the guy didn’t learn to treat others like he would want to be treated. It’s not inconceivable that at some point in his life he met a girl who liked him but he didn’t like her.

So, would he want the her to just kill herself in his driveway because he didn’t want to marry her??!

Somehow, I don’t think the guy would want to be known as the killer heartbreak

Some people might say the guy is mentally ill, but selfishness and sin can cause characteristic traits associated with what some call mental illness.

Very sad story indeed, wish an adult could’ve reached out to him or maybe one tried. Some people are bent on destruction and there’s no stopping them.

Sadly, other people commit suicide because they feel helpless. Problems seem overwhelming. The only way out is thru death—so they think

But death doesn’t end it all, in fact, death may only be the start of something eternally awful from which there is no return and no escape

I think you’re right though, unchecked “unbelief” figures high into “mental illness” defined suicides

Some of what may be regarded as “mental illness” comes from unscientific psychobabble.

Other people have been subject to the horrors of habitual abuse. That alone may severely and sometimes permanently impact ones ability to function normally with or without thoughts of suicide.

I heard of one person who was so severely abused by her mother she died of a heart attack in her mid 20’s—if I remember correctly. The mother had already killed 2 other siblings also subject to abuse before death

It’s just plain awful what some people endure at the hands violent people, especially children who can’t escapee. Sometimes they can’t escape even when grown because they can’t escape the deeply engrained mental turmoil.

As for prophetic, claiming true Christians don’t commit suicide—he may as well offer another argument that doesn’t follow.

Kinda like saying Christians can commit other sins except suicide, which doesn’t make any sense. There’s no scripture to back such a claim. Samson was obviously saved, yet he killed himself in his last battle.

Davey,

Here are a few ' pastors ' that have taken their lives.

David Treadway, of a Baptist church in Hickory, N C

Pastor Isaac Hunter—the son of the spiritual adviser to President Obama

Just days ago, a pastor who was grieving his dead wife reportedly shot himself in front of his mother and son, expressing that he was hearing his dead spouse’s voice and footsteps. Pastor Ed Montgomery and his late wife, Prophetess Jackie Montgomery, served at the Full Gospel Assemblies International church in Hazel Crest, Ill.

In November, a Georgia pastor killed himself in between Sunday services. Larrinecia Sims Parker, the wife of the Rev. Teddy Parker Jr., found the pastor in the driveway of their home with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Houston County coroner Danny Galpin reports.

ACalifornia megachurch pastor who frequently spoke out on the issues of mental health and his own struggles with depression died on Monday by suicide at the age of 30.

Jarrid Wilson joined the Harvest Christian Fellowship church in Riverside, Calif. 18 months ago as an associate pastor, according to a statement from the church. The church has a congregation of 15,000.

Authorities say a Florida pastor and popular Christian radio show host who was charged with raping a teenage girl appears to have killed himself.

Altamonte Springs police spokeswoman Michelle Sosa tells the Orlando Sentinel that the Reverand Bryan Fulwider was found dead in his home Sunday night.

The Medical Examiner's Office for Seminole County ruled the death a suicide.

Dave, what was so wrong with these men's lives that they would take their life and leave others to answer questions they are not able to answer.

Why the sudden rash of pastors committing suicide? Suicide is not a new problem among the clergy, but three known suicides in less than two months beg a deeper look at the issue.

There is no lack of statistics about pastors and depression, burnout, health, low pay, spirituality, relationships and longevity—and none of them are good. According to the Schaeffer Institute, 70 percent of pastors constantly fight depression, and 71 percent are burned out. Meanwhile, 72 percent of pastors say they only study the Bible when they are preparing for sermons; 80 percent believe pastoral ministry has negatively affected their families, and 70 percent say they don’t have a close friend.

The Schaeffer Institute also reports that 80 percent of seminary and Bible school graduates will leave the ministry within five years. It’s not clear how many commit suicide, but it is clear that pastors are not immune to it. Psychologists point to several reasons why people commit suicide, from depression to psychosis to stressful life situations. But one thing is certain: Whatever drives someone to take their own life ultimately begins in the mind. Suicidal thoughts precede suicide.

“Suicidal thoughts have numerous causes,” according to Mayo Clinic. “Most often, suicidal thoughts are the result of feeling like you can’t cope when you’re faced with what seems to be an overwhelming life situation. If you don’t have hope for the future, you may mistakenly think suicide is a solution. You may experience a sort of tunnel vision, wherein the middle of a crisis you believe suicide is the only way out.”

As it turns out, suicidal thoughts are not uncommon. Nearly 8.3 million adults age 18 and older in the United States—that’s 3.7 percent—had serious thoughts of suicide in the past year, according to a study called “Suicidal Thoughts and Behaviors Among Adults > 18 Years” released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Although some suicides are impulsive, most are planned out. More than 2 million adult Americans made a suicide plan in the past year, and about half that many went through with the plan.

Again, suicide starts with a thought. Indeed, every action we take starts with a thought. As one who struggled with depression for years, I am not trying to oversimplify the solution, but rather merely point out one contributing factor. Many of the harmful actions we take originate from the seed of a thought Satan whispers to our souls. That seed grows as our minds reason out the benefits of acting on the thought. For those contemplating suicide, I believe the seed grows in their minds as they reason themselves out of living because life’s circumstances are too overwhelming.

There have been a lot of excuses made for these men to commit suicide, yet the question about what they believed is not brought into the conversation.

Suicide: The WORLDS calls Mental health issues OR Biblical issues of UNBELIEF!!!

Quiznos: It is certainly no surprise that meny unsaved preachers have committed suicide in the last 2 years!

**WILL THERE BE A GREAT REBELLION, **FALLING AWAY** OR **APOSTASY** OF MANY IN CHRISTIAN CHURCHES SHORTLY BEFORE AND AT THE BEGINNING OF THE GREAT TRIBULATION**

In Matthew 24:3,9-13: The disciples asked Jesus, “What will be the sign of your Coming and the end of the age?? Jesus answered….. {During the 1260-day Great Tribulation} “Then *YOU* will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and *YOU* will be hated by all nations because of Me. At that time **MANY WILL **TURN AWAY FROM THE FAITH** AND WILL BETRAY AND AND HATE EACH OTHER**, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of ***MOST*** will grow cold, but he {The Called, Chosen & Faithful} who stands firm to the **END** will be saved.”

Revelation 17:14: They will make war against the **LAMB** but the **LAMB** will overcome them because He is **LOR** of lords and **KING** of kings ad with Him will be His **CALLED** ** CHOSEN** and **FAITHFUL** followers. {This will take place just after the resurrection of all of God's saints and the marriage Feast of the **LAMB** in Revelation 19:7-20}

2 Thessalonians 2:1-4,9-12: Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to Him, we ask you, brothers and sisters, not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by the teaching allegedly from us--whether by a prophecy or by word of mouth or by letter--asserting that the Day of the Lord has already come. Don't let anyone deceive you for that day will not come **UNTIL THE **REBELLION** OCCURS** and the man of lawlessness {666} is revealed. He will oppose and exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped!!... The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs, and wonders, and in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing. They perish because the refuse to love the truth and so be saved. For this reason God will send them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth!

The Greek word translated “rebellion” or “falling away” in 2 Thessalonians 2:3 above is **APOSTASIA**, from which we get the English word **APOSTASY**. It refers to a general defection from the true God, the Bible, and the Christian faith.

I Timothy 4:1-4: The Spirit clearly says that in **LATER TIMES** some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Such teachings come through hypocritical liars whose consciences have seared as with a hot iron. They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from cretain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth. For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with tthanksgiving, because it is consecrated by the Word of God and prayer!

2 Timothy 3:1-5: But mark this: There will be terrible times in the **LAST DAYS**. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God--having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people..

2 Timothy 4:3,4: For the time will come when people {ike Quiznos}will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their eyes from the truth and turn aside to myths!

2 Corinthians 11:13-15: For such people are false prophets, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve!

For sure some unsaved people commit suicide and it’s possible that some saved people might commit suicide.

Only God knows the heart of each distressed person. But to categorically assume without scriptural justification only unsaved people commit suicide is based on a reasoning error, (the universal affirmative fallacy)

Dave,

I find it interesting that fallen a man will judge others he has never met, and knows nothing about the people he judges; And will condemn them to hell, while possibly being on that way himself.

Suicide is a grave sin equivalent to murder (Exodus 20:13; 21:23), but it can be forgiven like any other sin. And Scripture says clearly that those redeemed by God have been forgiven for all their sins--past, present, and future (Colossians 2:13-14). Paul says in Romans 8:38-39 that nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus.

So if a true Christian would commit suicide in a time of extreme weakness, he or she would be received into heaven (Jude 24). But we question the faith of those who take their lives or even consider it seriously--it may well be that they have never been truly saved.

That's because God's children are defined repeatedly in Scripture as those who have hope (Acts 24:15; Romans 5:2-5, 8:24; 2 Corinthians 1:10, etc.) and purpose in life (Luke 9:23-25; Romans 8:28; Colossians 1:29). And those who think of committing suicide do so because they have neither hope nor purpose in their lives.

Furthermore, one who repeatedly considers suicide is practicing sin in his heart (Proverbs 23:7), and 1 John 3:9 says that "no one who is born of God practices sin." And finally, suicide is often the ultimate evidence of a heart that rejects the lordship of Jesus Christ, because it is an act where the sinner is taking his life into his own hands completely rather than submitting to God's will for it. Surely many of those who have taken their lives will hear those horrifying words from the Lord Jesus at the judgment--"I never knew you; Depart from me, you who practice lawlessness" (Matthew 7:23).

So though it may be possible for a true believer to commit suicide, we believe that is an unusual occurrence. Someone considering suicide should be challenged above all to examine himself to see whether he is in the faith (2 Corinthians 13:5).

Revelation 17:14: They will make war against the **LAMB** but the **LAMB** will overcome them because He is **LORD** of lords and **KING** of kings and with Him will be His **CALLED** **CHOSEN** and **FAITHFUL** followers! {This will take place just after the Resurrection of all of God's saints and the Marriage Feast of the **LAMB** as per Revelation 19:7-29}
