God never said He helps those who helps themselves

The phrase "God helps those who helps themselves." was brought up by someone close to me. They asked if that's what God said. I pondered on it and I found that it doesn't say this in the Bible. Isaiah 25:4 says "You have been a refuge for the poor, a refuge for the needy in their distress, a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat. For the breath of the ruthless is like a storm driving against a wall". God helps those that need it. We don't ourselves, we never help ourselves. If we helped ourselves we would only mess it up. But if we do anything we should do it in His name. We should remember it's not us helping ourselves when we do something, it's Him helping us do it. And when things are done we should give Him the glory for it. But does God help those who helps themselves? Yes. But He also helps those who can't help themselves. You can turn your back on Him, you can be angry at Him, you can not believe Him at all, He will still help you. That's how loving He is. He wants us to depend on Him and trust in Him.
