I think this is a verse where it is important to post within context and not alone. It's not saying tat we can literally do anything.



Philippians 4:10-13

I rejoiced greatly in the Lord that at last you renewed your concern for me. Indeed, you were concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it. I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this. I agree that things can be read for greater clarity of context. I do not believe that scripture is a "free for all" to do whatever we want, but something that needs to line up with God's will. He is our strength, and because of that I believe the scripture can also stand on its own, as Christ is where the strength resides and if He is providing the strength, it would have to align with His will. But you are correct, we can read it hastily and assume the strength is coming from us, so we can apply it however we like, which isn't what I believe it's saying. God bless.
