Certain “Christian” teachers often distort biblical truth by turning Jesus into a pacifist teacher. But history doesn’t seem to bare this out. But who actually coined the term “pacifism” and who were it’s original architects? Certainly not Jesus, there’s no historical evidence leading to him and the term can’t be traced to Jesus. Nonetheless, some Christians, having subscribed to this pagan ideology in practice, often cite out of context bible verses to justify their claim that Jesus was indeed a “pacifist”. Yet Jesus’ teaching and actions clearly portray a different kind of peacemaking based on the Old Testament teaching of “love your neighbor as yourself”.
With that, here’s a very brief look at the pagan origins of modern pacifism (Not to be confused with pacificism).
