People are emotional beings. Yet when it comes to classifying men and women it comes across differently, as Erica Limkeman recently observed:

"Isn’t it telling that being “emotional” is considered a feminine quality and is frowned upon, whereas men are often admired for being “passionate.” Go figure."

This is because emotional reactions are considered weak, while passion* is strong. It’s a false distinction, of course. What one person calls passionate another might call emotional. It depends on whether the action appears rational or not. And when it comes to being emotional or rational, there are plenty of examples of women and men displaying either.

Even in the Bible.

That is right on. We were made in the image of God. We are complex. Women and men love and hate. We all think rationally and irrationally. Who is that husband of Abigail? She is commended and became David's wife while her former husband's name escapes me. He is mentioned. We are all body, soul and spirit.

Men are supposed be better at math than women but the best math teacher I had was a woman. And don’t forget about the legendary Katherine Johnson!

I love logic and I have several logic texts, two written by women. I’m absolutely in love with both of them. Seems some women are quite rational.

I’ve also met some men, some on this forum, who are about as rational as sand box without a box—or maybe less

I absolutely agree with that analysis. Both the female and male display rationality, and emotions and the two should not be used to attack, or shame either gender.

I should have included more information about the legendary and the highly decorated and qualified math genius Katherine Johnson who worked at NASA and who prepared for the orbital mission of John Glenn.

Also, shoulda been “a sand box without a box” intended to demonstrate irrationality in the form of an oxymoronic parody—kinda sorta

I have seen men cry, hate, hit, laugh, and women do the same. Some of this nonsense got started when the general public said "Men don't cry" and little boys were taught this when very young. And yet Jesus wept over Jerusalem. Go figure.

Yeah, that's pretty unhealthy. Then people started saying things like "You cry like a girl".

It's true, boys are taught in many cases that "men don't cry." If I may, I'd like to speak a little more generally about the way society views emotion and the way both boys and girls can grow up "emotional" or more "stoic."

This will obviously echo some of the previous posts, but if you look at the outcome of debates, typically the first person to "lose their cool," which has negative connotations on its own, is typically viewed as the loser in the debate.

Also, any child regardless of gender who learns from an early age that a showing of strong emotion gets them what they want, they'll typically carry that tendency into adulthood in some manner. Likewise, if being emotional does not produce the results they want, they tend to be more emotionally distant or subdued.

To illustrate my last point, I remember seeing a video a few years ago (may have gone viral?) where a mom was videotaping her toddler who was having a typical toddler crying fit "meltdown" in the middle of the living room. The mom backs out of the room to the kitchen. The crying stops and a moment later, the child looks for mom. When he finds her, he promptly throws himself on the floor, picking up his meltdown right where he left off. She does this two or three times in the video and each time he looks for her and once he finds her, he resumes his meltdown.

Man was created to be a warrior, after the character of GOD Almighty.

Adam was to GUARD the garden as the enemy was there already, but Adam left his post.

Dizzy Quizzy

Well if that is true (in your self spirit mind) that man "was created to be a warrior" as you state Quizy, then why have you "left your post" when it comes to proper Bible study on the subject???

Adam was responsible for Eve??? REALLY??? Eve was not a free will creature like women are today, silly Quizy dizzy boy??? You are one strange dude thinking Adam was to have some kind of "power" over Eve! Hey Einstein Quizzy, Adam decided to eat of the forbidden tree just like Eve and it was his FREE WILL choice to do so, right??? Man are you ignorant of reasoning abilities dude!

If Adam was such an appointed "warrior" as you claim he was, then why did he NOT walk away from the sin that Eve decided to commit??? Had the rare P &W disease? You cannot answer that question, can you?
