His grin showed that he didn't want to shorten it, but the pastor knew that others needed opportunities as well. His words delighted all his hearers. "I was raised in a Christian home to godly parents. I thank God for them. We went to church regularly, but at eighteen, I didn't see the need. I still attended at times, but I didn't really need Christ in my life. I was fine. I got a good job, married and had children. One night well on the job, I was taken abducted. As cold metal pressed into my side and the cold metal of a gun barrel interrupted the sweat dripping down my temple, I thought of those years of Sunday school lessons. As I sat squished in between my captors, I saw that I needed Jesus. I cried out knowing that I was hell-bound. Though captive, I became the freest man in that car. Post Reply

Here’s some biblical reasons though not necessarily in order of importance but biblical nonetheless. Plumbing the depth of these biblical treasures is gonna be inexhaustible!!!! 1. There’s a certain kind of spiritual protection for us when we belong to a body of genuinely committed leadership of believers Hebrews 13:17 New International Version Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account. Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you. Belonging to a real church with biblically qualified leadership that genuinely care for and protect each member of the body is priceless. Sadly, some pastors do not “watch over...” even worse, they seem oblivious to their pastoral duties for which they will be held to the strictest accountability! See Ezekiel 34 which illustrates God’s indignation against shepherds who fail to discharge their duties. 2. Meeting together is also commanded. Hebrews 10:25 King James Version (KJV) 25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. As an important member of the Christ’s body you can exhort and encourage other Christians who need you!!!! 3. The early church “devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer” (Acts 2:42). HOW IMPORTANT IS THIS !!!! I’m just getting started responding and already wore out!! But the importance of Church attendance can’t be overstated! I’ve read some pretty good stuff on the value of church attendance but I have a brief article from ‘Got Questions’ on church attendance that bears repeating if anyone’s interested Post Reply

Problem is, many churches ministers do not teach all that tge Bible teaches. It's important to find a church that preaches the message of the Cross. Gospel of Jesus Christ Believers should ask the Holy Spirit to guide them to one. It's important to fellowship with other Believers sometime. Many people that call themselves Christians are not true followers. Post Reply

The man at Loree’s church who was abducted chose to humble himself before Jesus. What a trial! He didn’t know if life was about to end in mere seconds. He could have become embittered and rebelled further. I wonder what happened to the his captors. According to the Oxford Press, Charles Darwin lost his 10 year old daughter, Anne Elisabeth Darwin to tuberculosis. Some believe the death of his daughter caused Darwin to abandon his faith. But Darwin had already begun his journey away from God long before his daughter’s untimely death. The tragic trial of losing one’s child cannot be used as a defense for unbelief. Trials only reveal what’s already in the heart. Theologian and former evangelical Christian turned atheist, Bart Erhman, says he can’t believe in a God who allows such suffering. I’ve heard that same o reframe ad nauseam ad infinitum nearly everywhere I go. Contrary to modern or post modern opinion, we really shouldn’t be surprised at human suffering and death at any level in this sin cursed world, we should rather be surprised at God’s goodness when good things happen to sinners!! The REAL question should be: Why do good things happen to sinners? Trials only expose the true condition of our evil heart or they sometimes bring repentance and eventual sanctification. Hope I didn’t stray too far off topic here. Wish I could say all my trials were met with spiritual maturity Post Reply
