Heb 10:23-35 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

A sheep is always safest in a flock. When you understand that, you'll understand the importance of fellowship with others, be it in a church building or at someone's home.

"Is 'Church' attendance mandatory for a perosns relationship with Jesus."

------------------

Absolutely not. Our relationship is to be directly with the Father through Messiah. We are not to have another mediator in addition to Jesus. That said, assembling with the right people is edifiying, encouraging and beneficial. Assembling at the wrong institution results in brainwashing. This is why realionship with Jesus is to come first before all else.

Tothmax's point about a sheep leaving flock is somewhat misleading. While it is true, staying in a flock is safer, where are we to find our safety, in others or in GOD? The Church thing can be a subtle distraction from a relationship with Jesus.

Paul gave great advice for his day and most of it is still applicable today, such as assembling with other believers. However the OP asks if it is mandatory? I think it is not "mandatory" and in SOME instances can actually be counterproductive to a strong relationship with GOD.

That said, it is often the people with the strongest relationship with GOD who least want to be in "Church", yet they are the ones needed most to keep those with weak a relationship with GOD from getting distracted by an institution. However the SOME Church institutions will get rid of believers with a strong relationship with GOD because they view it as competition to "their" leadership.

@Toth

That scriptre could be better understood as;

Do not forsake those have assembled.

The so called pastor system forsakes those that have assembled, that come with a psalm, revelation, prophesy...... all for the sake of of a man to tell the people what he believes, called a sermon.

If anyone wants a sermon, just read the book for themself.

Why do Wordly minded people like activities they do!!

Because they enjoy it.

Pray and ask God why Christians enjoy assembling together.

If you were a Believer you wouldn't make up these topics.

@Cupcake, you'll find more real believers out in the "World" among "Worldly" people than sitting in the pews.

"And when the Pharisees saw this, they said to his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”

@cake

Hey cake, are you bothered with the topics i post, then do not read them, and do not answer.

I ask questions that young believers may have,and might not want anyone to know they have such questions, for fear of being asked to leave

' the church '.

Chuck.

I don't think I could disagree with you anymore.

Jer 3:15 And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.

Eph 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

As far as sermons, Jesus told quite a memorable one known as the "Sermon on the Mount."

There's a responsibility that comes with whatever calling you are given. A pastor's is to lead the flock

The wolf is hunting for the one who thinks like you. The sheep that thinks he can make his own path, when the wolf has been watching him all along. As soon as the lamb is on its own, a single wolf attacks from the front. The lamb has determined that he could outsmart the wolf, but that's the distraction. The real threat is the pack closing in quietly from behind the lamb.

Toth, are there any requirements in scripture for a perso to be a poimen/shepherd, BECAUSE there are requirements for elders and deacons.

What is the role of a shepherd for sheep,

How did Messiah fill the position of shepherd.

Come follow me,but the pastors follow their own understanding.

Khutzpa quote

End quote

You forget that first century saints were usually in one accord with each other and edified one another and added to the body of Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit. Yes, "church" can distract if it is out of fellowship with the word.
