Quiznos, what a great question. This is deeper than most realize. Therefore I'll wade quickly thought the shallow end of the pool.
Messiah (Mashiach) is hebrew for smeared with oil, I.e. anointed. The same word in Greek is Christos. If we were to correctly say Y'shua in English, it would SHOULD be "Joshua". However because of crazy transliterations from Hebrew to Latin to Greek to English we have this completely made up name "Jesus". This is incontestable.
HOWEVER......
The question really is: What is a name? And: Is there power from GOD (YHWH) in the name "Jesus"?
I feel some can get trapped with the name thing. Therefore I only offer my opinion on it to set free those who can accept it. During Biblical times, people thought if they had the proper name of a god, that it gave then special favor and power. This is still practiced in witchcraft today in spells and incantations - secret knowledge. However in Hebrew a name describes characteristics. In Matthew chapter one the name "Jesus" is defined as Joshua is defined in Hebrew; "YHWH is salvation". Therefore when a person uses this name in this context, then yes, even though it is a made up name, it correctly identifies the Messiah's character and therefore has the power of GOD behind the name Jesus.
People wouldn't recognize Jesus if he was walking down the street, but he would recognize you. It is much the same with Jesus/Yeshua/Yashua/Y'shua/Joshua, we may not recognize Jesus's real name in Hebrew or Aramaic, that's okay, because what is important is that he knows our name!
Christians will be the first to exclaim Jesus is Messiah because he fulfilled all the Old Testament prophecies. But wait, no he did not! And this is the reason Jews give for rejecting Jesus as Messiah. So who is right?
They both are. Jesus didn't fulfill all the prophecies of Messiah......YET! Jesus has more to do when he returns. Then many many Jews WILL believe.
We THINK we are in the "New Covenant" of Yirmeyahu 31:31....No, we only have a deposit guaranteeing replacing it. Even Paul says this.

Matthew 1:20-23: The angel of the Lord said to Joseph, "Take Mary home as your wife because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She is to give birth to a Son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus which means **GOD IS HELP**, because He will save His people from their sins. All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet {Isaiah 7:14 above} "The virgin will conceive and give birth to a Son, and they will call Him **IMMANUEL** which means **GOD WITH US**!
John 1:18: No one has ever seen God, but the One and only Son, who is **HIMSELF GOD** and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made Him known!
John 14:6,7: Jesus says, "I am the **WAY** the **TRUTH** and the **LIFE**. No one comes to the Father except through Me. If you really knew Me, you will know the Father as well. From now on, you do know Him and have **SEEN HIM**!"

Jesus is **WORSHIPED** many times in God's Word in Matthew 2:2,8,11; 14:33; 28:9,17 Luke 24:52 John 9:38 and Revelation 5:11-14 and !5:4!!
Matthew 2:10,11: When the Wise Men saw the star, they were overjoyed. On coming to the house, they saw the Child with His mother Mary, and they bowed down and **WORSHIPED HIM**!
Matthew 14:33; Then those who were in the boat **WORSHPED HIM**!!
Matthew 28:8,9: So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell His disciples. Suddenly Jesus met them. "Greetings," He said. They came to Him, clasped His feet and **WORSHIPED HIM**!
Matthew 28:16,17: Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When the saw Him, they **WORSHIPED HIM**!
There are some who completely ignore these Scriptures and claim that Jesus is not God because he said that the Father is greater than me in John 14:28 and that the Father told Him what to say as per John 14:23,24: Jesus says, "Anyone who loves Me will obey My teaching. My Father will love them, and We will come to them and make our home with them. Anyone who does not love Me will not obey My teaching. The words you hear are not My own; they belong to the Father who sent Me."
John 9:37,38: Jesus said, "You have now seen Him; in fact, He is the one speaking with you!" Then the man said, "Lord, I believe," and he **WORSHIPED HIM**!
NOTE: Jesus is called the **LAMB** 30 times in the book of Revelation!
Revelation 5:13,14: Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, an all that is In them, saying "To Him who sits on the throne and to the **LAMB** be praise and honor and glory and power for ever and ever!" The 4 living creatures said, "Amen," and the elders fell down and **WORSHIPED**!

We spell it like "Jesus" for grammatical reasons. This was changed from "Iesus" in Latin, which was converted from Koine (Greek), and Koine was converted from Hebrew. The difficulty in this is that "Y", "I" are used as consonants in Hebrew, Greek, and Latin, but they are not used as consonants in English, except sometimes the "Y."
IMO, not something to fret about, because it is understood, but if it bothers you, there's nothing wrong with using the spelling from the original manuscripts. I know I do sometimes. However, it might be confusing to some people who have only been introduced to the English language.
Language can be a funny thing. Just like some people get upset when someone says "Xmas", but if you said this to someone who is Greek, they would read the "X" as "Christos." And no, not trying to start a "Christmas" debate. Just a simple example about language.

Ummm Richard, you are sadly mistaken and guilty of lieing to what the SDA "church" teaches. I have an old friend for many years and he is a SDA and always tries to get me to attend his"church." I have asked him many questions thru the years and he said positively they do NOT teach to keep the Moses Laws (613 of them) for they do NOT keep them. They teach to keep Christ's Law which is His Ten Commandments that were originally written on stone in OT times and now written on our hearts now he says. They also teach the commandments do not save anyone but keep them because Christ says if you love me you will keep my commandments! So they keep them out of love, not that those Laws saved anyone to begin with! The Ten Commandments ONLY point out what sin is but save no one by keeping them, he always told me. So you do not know what your talking about.

What is VERY strange about the SDA "church" though, is they claim SATURNDAY is the Sabbath of old and the NT??? The Bible says NOTHING of SATURNDAY as being the Sabbath PERIOD! And if you check the history of the pagan pope gregorian calendar today you will find that SUNDAY is NOT the "Lord's day' or the first day of the week!!! Its a historical fact!
Many 7th Day Adventists tell you that they believe that you are saved by grace through faith but then they add on the good works like the Sabbath and tithing to the end of your life!!
