Were some authors of the Dead Sea Scrolls actually early Christians? (Prophetic free thread)Posted : 29 Dec, 2019 11:55 AMThe authors of the Dead Sea Scrolls have always been thought to be Jewish, granted they were, but facts are coming out that supports the view that they were actually Christians. |

Were some authors of the Dead Sea Scrolls actually early Christians? (Prophetic free thread)Posted : 29 Dec, 2019 11:56 AMIn the Gospel of Luke, an angel appears to the Virgin Mary and announces: “And now you will conceive in your womb and bear a son and you will name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the son of the Most High...the son of God.” (Luke 1:31-35) Nearly the same language appears in one of the Dead Sea scrolls: “He will be called great and he will be called Son of God, and they will call him Son of the Most High...He will judge the earth in righteousness...and every nation will bow down to him...” (4Q 246) |

Were some authors of the Dead Sea Scrolls actually early Christians? (Prophetic free thread)Posted : 29 Dec, 2019 11:59 AMThere are references in the New Testament (especially in Paul and John) to this distinction. For example, “I am the light of the world; he who follows me will not walk in darkness” (John 8:12). And in the scrolls we read, “All the children of righteousness are ruled by the Prince of Light and walk in the ways of light, but all the children of falsehood are ruled by the Angel of Darkness and walk in the ways of darkness.” (Rule of the Community, 3) Even the famous beatitudes in the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5:3-12) and in the Sermon on the Plain (Luke 6:20-23) have striking parallels in the scrolls and apocryphal literature. |

Were some authors of the Dead Sea Scrolls actually early Christians? (Prophetic free thread)Posted : 29 Dec, 2019 12:04 PMWas Christianity the spiritual heir of the Essenes? Was Christianity the vehicle by which Jewish messianism was spread throughout the world, albeit in a much different form? And what was the impact of these views on Jewish messianism as it developed subsequently, especially during times of persecution, as in the Middle Ages and the early modern period? |

Were some authors of the Dead Sea Scrolls actually early Christians? (Prophetic free thread)Posted : 29 Dec, 2019 12:08 PMChristianity did not abandon Jewish ethics and morality, but turned toward the primacy of belief in a messianic figure, Jesus, rather than the life-structure embodied in the written and oral Torah. |

Were some authors of the Dead Sea Scrolls actually early Christians? (Prophetic free thread)Posted : 29 Dec, 2019 12:14 PMChuckles: All born from above Christians believe that Jesus is God and that His blood is the only thing that forgives sins and that every word in Paul's Epistles are the inspired words of God which you deny. Actually Christians are the Jews best friends; so why would you want to make fun of all their Christian beliefs?? Chuckles comes to a Christian Forum teaching about 95 percent of what Orthodox Jews believe since he believes we are saved by doing good works and obeying OT laws. If anyone disagrees with his teaching Chuckles claims they are a racist ant-Semite, and an unrepenting **LIAR** who misuses and wrongly translates Scripture. He also hogs about 66.6 Percent of the new threads. Actually he is a terrible theologian and is only good at taking one out of context Scripture to prove his teachings. The only other thing Chuckles is good at is calling everyone who disagrees with his Satanic teachings, terrible names. |
