12-21-2019 Seventh Day Baptist Edgewater Pastor Keith “Call His Name Jesus” Matthew 1:21

=============================================================================================================

“And she shall bring forth a son and thou shall call His name Jesus; For He shall save his people from their sins”

Some people believe that they don’t need God; they can just be good for goodness sake. The Christian Faith has nothing to do with being good or with Santa Clause! All Christians should respond to the world’s secular Christmas by singing songs that talk about Jesus and participate in the parts of the season that honor God. The Christmas season is the time we can share Jesus and the Gospel. Jesus is MORE than a baby born in a barn. Jesus is King and came to reconcile God and the sinners of the world. Joy to the world and let the earth receive her King. Jesus was born to be worshipped and born to be a King.

Many schools have banned the singing of Christmas carols because they make people think of Jesus Christ. Some schools banned all Christmas items from being in the schools during Christmas. Jesus said the world hates Him. It hates Him because the world doesn’t want to think they have sin. They hate the idea that they cannot be good without God. The world wants to think that all morality belongs to whatever culture you are in. The world wants to think it can be good for goodness sake and that no one has the right to criticize other cultures and their practices.

God sent Jesus to save people from their sins. Jesus said the world would hate Him. Jesus has called us out of the world to be reconciled to God. And the world hates this! As a Christian, we are called to share the gospel of Jesus with people. Christmas time is when people are thinking about baby Jesus. This time of year is a ripe harvest time for God. We want to be a beacon for the Lord. We want to shine brightly for God the Father and for His Son Jesus Christ.

AMEN
