11/30/19 Seventh Day Baptist Edgewater Pastor Keith “Thanksgiving Every Day” Psalm 147, Colossians 3:12-17

======================================================================================================

Thanksgiving can happen ten times a year when happy events happen to a family. Even ten thanksgivings is not enough to give Jesus and God thanks. We should do this daily and it should be a lifestyle for each Christian. We are to praise and give thanks to God daily and pray our thanks giving to the Lord. The secular world has Thanksgiving Day being over until next year. We Christians have Thanksgiving each day because there are many things we can be grateful to God and Jesus for.

We should never lose our zeal for the Lord. We should stand on God’s promises and not be just sitting on the premises of God. We should always approach the throne of God with a thankful heart. We need to keep on counting our blessings and be thankful. We are spiritually free and should be thankful. This should be a way of life for Christians. We should count our many blessing and name them one by one when we feel discouraged. Don’t be ungrateful to God. Counting your blessings will help you NOT be ungrateful and complaining. When trouble comes to us, we need to be grateful for the food, clothes and shelter we have from God. We need to remember that we have a God who cares for us and will never leave us! God and Jesus will freely give us all things!

God’s people should always be a thankful people. In the Old Testament (Exodus, Numbers, Deuteronomy) the Israelites saw God’s miracles. Miracles that freed them from slavery in Egypt, fed them food in the wilderness and kept them going. The Israelites still complained and complained while God was providing everything for them. We can be this way too and we need to stop it! We should count our blessings from God. People should see us as a thankful, grateful people. Christians should be filled with joy and gratitude in their Faith. God wants us to be faithful and to have joy and gratitude toward Him. We should serve God with a cheerful, grateful heart throughout the WHOLE year.

AMEN
