11/9/19 Alfred Station Seventh Day Baptist Pastor Ken “Be Mighty For the Lord” II Samuel 23:13-17

===============================================================================================

Before there were para-troopers or green berets, there was David’s 30 mighty men. What the mighty men had then is what every Christian should have today. We are also going to look at David and see what every Christian leader should have.

****Three Mighty Men****

1) Warriors:

They were warriors and stood up against the Philistines and sometimes fought alone but still won their battles. They were victorious. Ephesians chapter 6 says we should put on the armor of God. We are to stand and pray to God with His armor on. We can stand firm against the enemy’s fiery darts. We are to be warriors because we are in a battle against powers, principalities of evil and Satan.

2) Having Unity While Being Different:

It is okay to be different but still be together. It is okay for a local church to have people who speak a different language. It is okay for a local church to have people who are at different economic levels. We are ALL called to be men and women of God.

3) Being Loyal:

We should be loyal to God, Jesus and members of our church. We should have relationships with each other and be loyal to one another. We should be loyal to God and his church leaders.

****Leadership of David****

1) Watch What You Say Off the Cuff:

Do not foolishly say something you should not say to your troops.

2) Repent to the Lord:

Repent to the Lord when you are foolish and go to God to repent. David spoke out loud and said how he wished he had some Bethlehem well water. His men took him seriously and they risked their lives to get the water for David. When David saw this he repented of his foolish words that had made men risk their lives. Instead of drinking it, David offered a drink offering to God with this Bethlehem well water.

AMEN
