In the OT God ordered Israel to kill their enemies many times and God helped them do it. However in the New Covenant Jesus commands, "Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you. If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other also." Luke 6:27-29
While in the Old Covenant in Leviticus 26:7,8: God said to Israel, "You will pursue your enemies, and they will fall by the SWORD before you. Five of you will chase a hundred, and a hundred of you will chase ten thousand, and your enemies will fall by the SWORD before you!" Numbers 25:16,17" The Lord said to Moses, "Treat the Midianites as enemies and kill them!" etc etc
HOWEVER IN THE NEW COVENANT, JESUS SAYS, "ALL WHO DRAW THE SWORD WILL DIE BY THE SWORD!"
Jesus said to His 11 Apostles, "If you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one. For it is written: "And He was numbered with the transgressors"{Isaiah 53:12} and I tell you that this must be fulfilled in Me. Yes, what is written about Me is reaching its fulfillment." The disciples said, "See Lord, here are 2 {Not 11}swords." "That is enough." Jesus replied.
Matthew 26:30-34: They seized Jesus and arrested Him. With that, one of Jesus' companions reached for his sword, drew it out and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear. "Put your sword back in its place," Jesus said to him, "For *ALL* who draw the sword will die by the sword...But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen in this way?"
And so the only reason that Jesus allowed the disciples to have 2 swords was so that the Scripture in Isaiah 53:12 would be fulfilled: "He was numbered among the transgressors."
John 18:36,37: Jesus said to Pilate, "My Kingdom is not of this world. If it were, My servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jews. But **NOW** My Kingdom is from another place!... Everyone on the side of Truth **LISTENS TO ME**!"
The Old Covenant commands in Exodus 21:23-25 "If there is serious injury, you are to take life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, wound for wound, bruise for bruise."
This was changed by these New Covenant commands by Jesus:
Matthew 5:38,39: Jesus commands, "You have heard that it was said {In Exodus 21:23-25 above}, 'Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.' But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek turn to him the other also!"
Luke 6:27-29: Jesus commands, "LOVE YOUR ENEMIES, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other also. If someone takes your cloak, do not stop him from taking your tunic. Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you. do not demand it back!"
Romans 12:18-21: If it is possible, as far as it **DEPENDS ON YOU, LIVE AT PEACE WITH EVERYONE**! Do not take revenge my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written, "It is mine to revenge, I will repay," says the Lord. On the contrary "If your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head" Do not be overcome by evil but OVERCOME EVIL WITH GOOD!!
2 Corinthians 10:3,4: "For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are *NOT* the weapons of the world."
Matthew 5:9; Jesus {The Prince of Peace-Isaiah9:6} says, "Blessed are the **PEACEMAKERS**, for they will be called the Children of God.
2Thessalonians 3:16: May the **LORD OF PEACE** Himself give you **PEACE** at all times and in every way!
Colossians 3:15: Let the **PEACE OF CHRIST** rule in your heaerts, since as members of one body you were **CALLED TO PEACE**!
Galatians 5:22: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, **PEACE**, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control!
Ephesians 6:13-15: Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the evil day comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything ,to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the **GOSPEL OF PEACE**!!
James 3:17,18: But the wisdom that comes from heavenis first of all pure; the **PEACELOVING**, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. **PEACEMAKERS** who sow in **PEACE** reap a harvest of righteousness!
The only weapons that NT saints may use who follow the New Covenant commands of Jesus is the Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God. A NT saint would not even think of joining the army of any nation and becoming a professional killer or defending himself with a gun. Unfortunately very few Groups such as the Quakers, Anabaptists, Amish and Mennonites still obey these sacred commands of Jesus.
I John 2:3-5: "We know that we have come to know Him if we obey His {Jesus'} commands. The man who says, "I know him," but does not do what He {Jesus} commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But if anyone obeys His Word, God's love is truly made complete in him."
The inspired words of the NT were inspired by God between AD 50 and AD 96 and the 4 Gospels were written about AD 65 And so all of the approximately 400 NT commands were not completed and in force until Around AD 96.
When you join the military and become a professional killer you must make a **VOW** that you will obey all the commands of your commanding officer. And so if He commands you to drop an Atomic Bomb that will kill about 100,000 civilians including about 25,000 innocent children you must obey this command!!!
What is the Old Testament command concerning *VOWS* and *OATHS*?? Numbers 30:2: Moses said, "This is what the Lord commands: When a man makes a *VOW* to the Lord or takes an *OATH* to obligate himself by a pledge, he must not break his word but must do everything he said!"
However, what are the New Testament commands concerning making *VOWS* and **OATHS*??
James 5:12: "ABOVE ALL, my brothers, do not swear--not by heaven or by earth or by anything else. Let your "Yes" be yes, and your "No," no, or you will be condemned.!!"
Matthew 5:33-37: Jesus says, "You have heard that it was said to your people long ago {Numbers 30:2 above}, 'Do not break your oath, but keep the oaths you have made to the Lord.' BUT I tell you, Do not swear at all....Simply let your 'Yes' be 'Yes,' and your 'No, 'No'; anything beyond this comes from the evil one!!"
The military oath of enlistment (re-enlistment) is fairly straightforward for most military personnel. It's administered by a superior officer, and carried out like most traditional oaths, with the officer reading the oath and the person being sworn repeating it after raising his right hand:
I, (NAME), do solemnly **SWEAR** that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear **TRUE FAITH** and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. **SO HELP ME GOD**.
And so according to God's Word any Christian who swears this Vow to obey all the commands of his commanding officer is **SINNING** and this would include Christian medics and Chaplains who must also swear this Vow!!
The Christian denominations which are total pacifists inclde the Quakers, the Amish, the Menonites, the Anabaptists, Church of the Brethren, Brethren in Christ and the Wesleyan Methodists. Famous preachers who were pacifists include D.L. Moody, Charles Spurgeon and Martin Luther King Jr.
However the Pacifism of Jesus and His saints will end just after the Resurrection of His saints and the Marriage Feast of the Lamb on the Last Day when Jesus wiill mount a heavenly white horse and all of His saints will follow Him on heavenly white horses and then they will defeat the armies of 666 and his False Prophet as per Revelation 19:7-21.
Revelation 17:14: They will wage war against the **LAMB**, but the **LAMB** will triumph over them because He is **LORD** of lords and **KING** of kings--and with Him will be His **CALLED**, **CHOSEN** and **FAITHFUL** followers!
I Corinthians 15:22-25: For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. But each in turn: Christ, Firstfruits; then, when He comes, those who belong to Him. Then the End will come, when He hands over the Kingdom to God the Father after He has destroyed all dominion, authority and power. For He must reign until He has put all His enemies under His feet!!
**AND THEN THERE WILL BE TOTAL **PEACE** FOR EVER AND EVER**
2 Peter 3:10-13: But the Day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will DISAPPEAR with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and *EVERYTHING* in it will be burned up . Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives as you wait eagerly for the Day of God to come. That Day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. But in keeping with His promise **WE** are looking forward to a New heavens and a New Earth, the home of righteousness.
Revelation 21:1-5: Then I saw a *NEW HEAVEN** and a **NEW EARTH**, for the {present} first heaven and first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the **NEW JERUSALEM**, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. Satan and his followers really hate it when you quote God's Word. Especially Grace who believes that every Bible translation has many serious errors.

Yahweh is not a distant God. He is very much in our lives whether we are aware of His presence and interventions or not. He sent a messenger of satan to buffet Paul. He sent a melancholy spirit to Saul and took it away. He deals with people where they are. You don't talk and deal with a 17 year old the same as a toddler. I have had the Lord woo me when I was unsaved. I could NOT deny that was him!! I was stubborn and it took a lot of sinful living to break me like a horse. He was longsuffering with me. God commanded HIS people to be agents for extermination in the OT. So those people were not innocent BUT here is the shocking part....they were sinful themselves! God is a righteous and just judge. He also judges his own people harshly because they know better! He judged the house of Israel and eventually divorced them. He made promises to Abraham , Isaac and Jacob or Israel would have probably perished also. A Canannite prostitute named Rayhab who saught the one true God and was spared (She was the Grandmother of Kind David and ends up in the geneaology of Jesus!) He knows your heart, thoughts and actions in the dark. The Canaanites offered their children to the god Molech. Leviticus 18:21 "And thou shalt not let any of thy seed pass through the fire to Molech, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the LORD."
Leviticus 20:2: "Again, thou shalt say to the children of Israel, Whosoever he be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn in Israel, that giveth any of his seed unto Molech; he shall surely be put to death: the people of the land shall stone him with stones."
Leviticus 20:3: "And I will set my face against that man, and will cut him off from among his people; because he hath given of his seed unto Molech, to defile my sanctuary, and to profane my holy name."

God waited until their degradation was full.

Instead we should write to them, telling them to abstain from food polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from the meat of strangled animals and from blood!" These rules for Gentile Christians until God's Word was written were repeated in Acts 15:29 and Acts 21:25!

However, if you belong to one of the Evangelical churches; the chances of you hearing a sermon on why making a vow or oath is a **SIN** as per Matthew 5:33-37 and James 5:12 are just about **ZERO** unfortunately. Even though Jesus commanded us to make disciples of all nations teaching them to **OBEY EVERYTHING I HAVE COMMANDED** in Matthew 28:18-20!!

Revelation 17:14: They will wage war against the **LAMB**, but the **LAMB** will triumph over them because He is **LORD** of lords and **KING** of kings--and with Him will be His **CALLED**, **CHOSEN** and **FAITHFUL** followers!
I Corinthians 15:22-25: For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. But each in turn: Christ, Firstfruits; then, when He comes, those who belong to Him. Then the End will come, when He hands over the Kingdom to God the Father after He has destroyed all dominion, authority and power. For He must reign until He has put all His enemies under His feet!!
**AND THEN THERE WILL BE TOTAL **PEACE** FOR EVER AND EVER**
2 Peter 3:10-13: But the Day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will DISAPPEAR with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and *EVERYTHING* in it will be burned up . Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives as you wait eagerly for the Day of God to come. That Day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. But in keeping with His promise **WE** are looking forward to a New heavens and a New Earth, the home of righteousness.
Revelation 21:1-5: Then I saw a *NEW HEAVEN** and a **NEW EARTH**, for the {present} first heaven and first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the **NEW JERUSALEM**, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and He will live with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes, There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." He who was seated on the throne said, "I am making **EVERYTHING NEW**!" Then He said, "Write this down, for these words are TRUSTWORTHY and TRUE!"
Revelation 22:1-5: Then the angel showed me the river of the Water of Life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and the Lamb {Jesus} down the middle of the great street of the City. On each side of the river stood the Tree of Life, bearing 12 crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month... The throne of God and of the **LAMB** will be in the City, and his servants will serve Him. They will see His face and His name will be on their foreheads. There will be no more night!! They will not need the light of the lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign **FOR EVER AND EVER**. The angel said to me, "These words are TRUSTWORTHY and TRUE!!"
