It is a figurative city where Jesus raised the temple up in 3 days and he is a lamp unto our path so that explains the lack of literal sunlight .I had wondered about that recently and went to look it up.

It is figurative language. Do you think it was a literal shaking ? It is the same language as Revelation...in 70 AD.

He who was seated on the throne said, "I am making **EVERYTHING NEW**!" Then He said, "Write this down, for these words are TRUSTWORTHY and TRUE!"
**THIS DID NOT HAPPEN IN AD 70**
Hebrews 11:13-16: All these people {Abraham, Sarah Isaac, Jacob, Noah etc} were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them from a distance. And they admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth. People who say such things show they are looking for a country of their own. If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return. Instead, they were looking for a BETTER COUNTRY--a HEAVENLY ONE. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a *CITY* (The *NEW JERUSALEM*} for them!!
Galatians 4:25,26: Now Hagar stands for Mount Sinai in Arabia and corresponds to the present city of Jerusalem, because she is in slavery with her children. But the **JERUSALEM** that is **ABOVE** is free, and she is our MOTHER !!
The New Jerusalem is described in Revelation 21:9 to Revelation 22:5. The New Jerusalem will be 12,000 stadia long, high and wide as per Revelation 21:16. A stadia is 606 feet long which is the exact same length as the ancient Greek stadium. 606 feet times 12,000 equals 7,272,000 feet which is 1377 miles plus 1,440 feet. A mile is exactly 5,280 feet. {1377 times 5,280 feet equal 7,270,560 feet.} And so the New Jerusalem will be exactly 1377 miles plus 1,440 feet long, wide and high!!
Revelation 21:9-12,15-16,19,23,27; Revelation 22:1-6: The angel said to John, “Come, I will show you the Bride the Wife of the Lamb.” And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of Heaven from God It shone like the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel. It had a great high wall {1377 miles plus 1,440 feet HIGH!} with 12 gates, and with 12 angels at the gates.
The angel who talked with me had a measuring rod of gold to measure the City, its gates and its walls. The City was laid out like a square, as long as it was wide. He measured the City with the rod and found it to be 12,000 stadia {A Stadia is exactly 606 feet} in length, and as wide and high as it is long. {1377 miles plus 1,440 feet long, wide and high} The wall was made of Jasper, and the City of pure gold, as pure as glass. The foundations of the city walls were decorated with every kind of precious stone....... The great street of the City was of pure gold, like transparent glass...... Only those written in the Lamb's Book of Life will be able to enter the **NEW JERUSALEM**!
Then the angel showed me the river of the Water of Life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and the Lamb {Jesus} down the middle of the great street of the City. On each side of the river stood the Tree of Life, bearing 12 crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month... The **THRONE OF GOD** and of the **LAMB** will be in the City, and his servants will serve Him. They will see His face and His name will be on their foreheads. There will be no more night!! They will not need the light of the lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign **FOR EVER AND EVER**. The angel said to me, “These words are TRUSTWORTHY and TRUE!!”
JESUS WILL WRITE ON US THE NAME OF THE CITY OF GOD THE **NEW JERUSALEM**!!
Revelation 2:18; 3:12,21: Jesus says, "To him who overcomes I will give him a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to him who receives it... I will write on him the name of the City of My God, the **NEW JERUSALEM**, **WHICH IS COMING DOWN OUT OF HEAVEN FROM MY GOD**....And I will give the right to sit with Me on My throne, just as I overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne."
According to Revelation 22:3 the only 2 thrones in the **NEW JERUSALEM** will be the thrones of the **FATHER** and of the **LAMB** Jesus Christ.
Matthew 16:27: Jesus says, "For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father's glory with His angels and **THEN** He will **REWARD** each person according to what they have done!"
Daniel 12:3: Those who are wise and impart wisdom will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever!
Matthew 5:11,12: Jesus says, “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your **REWARD** **IN HEAVEN**!”
I Corinthians 9:24-27: Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes in to strict training. They do it to get a **CROWN** that will not last; but we do it to get a **CROWN THAT WILL LAST FOREVER**! Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize!
Luke 11:33,34: Jesus says, "Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a **TREASURE** IN HEAVEN** that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. For where your **TREASURE** is, there your **HEART** will be also!"
According to Revelation 19:14 all of God's saints will ride heavenly white horses that fly which will be their transportation in the fantastic and amazing new earth. And they will be able to play with amazing new animals who will all be vegetarians as per Isaiah 65:25!! And then God's saints will have millions of very friendly new friends who will love us just the way we are!!
**THE PRETERISTS LIKE KJVONLY BELIEVE THAT ALL OF THE FOLLOWING EVENTS TOOK PLACE IN AD 70**?
Matthew 24:1-3: Jesus left the Temple and was walking away when Hid disciples came up to to call his attention to its buildings. "Do you see all these things?" Jesus asked, "Truly I tell you, not one stone will be left on another; every one will be thrown down!" As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. "Tell us, they said, "{Question #1} When will this happen, and {Question #2} what will be the sign of your Coming and the **END** of the age?"
The **PRETERISTS** believe this was only 1 Question??
The Mount of Olives Prophecies and answers to these 2 questions by Jesus are in Matthew 24 and 25 Mark 13 and Luke 21. However the answer to Question {#1} as to when the Temple will be completely destroyed in AD 70 is only answered in Luke 21:20-24 below when Jesus warns His saints to flee to the mountains!. Everything else in the Olivet prophecies refers to the Great Tribulation, the Second coming of Jesus on the Last Day of the Tribulation when He resurrects all of His saints with new heavenly bodies; immediately followed by the resurrection of all the Lost and Judgment Day!
Luke 21:20-24: Jesus prophesied, "When you see Jerusalem being surrounded by armies, you will know that its destruction is near {In AD 70}. Then let those in Judea flee to the mountains, let those in the city get out and let those in the countrynot enter the city. For this is the time of punishment in fulfillment of all that has been written {See Daniel 9:26}... Ther will be great distress in the land against this people. They {The Jews} will fall by the sword and will be taken as prisoners to all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. {This prophecy was **FULFILLED** when the Jews took over East Jerusalem on May 14th, AD 1948 and completed when the Jews took over West Jerusalem form the Jordanian Gentiles on June 7th AD 1967 almost 1900 years later!
All of the other prophecies by Jesus in the Mount of Olives prophecies in Matthew 24 and 25, Mark 13 and Luke 21 refer to Question #2 "What will be the sign of your coming and the end of the age? will be completed by the 42-month {See Rev 13:4-10 below} Great Tribulation just before the Second Coming of Jesus on the Last Day when all of his saints will be resurrected and receive their new heavenly bodies immediately followed by the resurrection of the Lost and Judgement Day in Matthew 25:31-46
**SUCH AS** Matthew 24:9-13 which prophesies the great falling away at the beginning of the Great Tribulation of many in the church when they will be hated by **ALL** the nations of the world followed by the prophecy by Jesus in Matthew 24:14 that the Goispel must be preacxhed to **ALL** the nations of the world before the End will come. By AD 70 the Gospel had only been preached to those nations in the Roman Empire!
The **PRETERISTS** like KJVonly believe that all of the following events took place in AD 70 ????
In Matthew 24:3,9-13: The disciples asked Jesus, “What will be the sign of your Coming and the end of the age?? Jesus answered….. {During the 42-month Great Tribulation} “Then *YOU* will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and *YOU will be hated by **ALL NATIONS** **BECAUSE OF ME**. At that time many will turn away from the Faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of *MOST will grow cold, but he who stands firm to the **END** will be saved.”
Rev 13:4-10: Men worshiped the dragon {Satan} because he had given authority to the Beast {666} and they also worshiped the beast and asked, “Who is like the Beast? Who can make war against him?” The Beast will exercise his authority for 42 {30-day} months {1260 days}, He will be given authority over **EVERY** tribe, people, language and **NATION**. All inhabitants of the earth will worship the Beast--all whose names have not been written in the **LAMB'S** Book of Life. Whoever has ears let him hear: "If anyone is to go into captivity, into captivity they will go. If anyone is to be killed with the sword, with the sword he will be killed." This calls for patient endurance and faithfulness on the part of God's saints!
Matthew 24:14: Jesus prophesied, "And this Gospel of the Kingdom will be preached in the **WHOLE WORLD** as a testimony to **ALL NATIONS** and **THEN the **END will come!"
Matthew 24:29-31: Immediately after the distress of those {1260} days the sun will be darkened and the moon will not give its light and the **STARS WILL FALL** from the sky! {Luke 21:28 adds "When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near!"} Then will ***APPEAR*** the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. and then all the {Unsaved} peoples of the earth will mourn when the see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory. And He will send His angels with a loud {7th & Last} trumpet call, and the will gather **HIS ELECT** from the 4 winds, from one end of heavens to the other!" {Mark 13:27 adds "From the ends of the earth!"}
Any honest Bible scholar will admit that none of the above events took place in AD 70 and must all take place in the **FUTURE**. And therefore the Preterist belief that all these events took place in AD 70 is completely ridiculous!!
Matthew 25:31-34,41,46: Jesus prophesied, "When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, He will sit on His glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered before Him, an He will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates his sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on His right and the goats on His left. **THEN** the King will say to those on his right. Come, you are blessed by My Father ; take your inhreritance , the Kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world... "Then He will say to those on His left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared fror the Devil and his angels....**THEN** they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life!"

**DO **PROPHETS** PLAY AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN THE NEW COVENANT**??
I Corinthians 12:27,28: Now you are the body of Christ , and each one of you is a part of it. And God has placed in the church first of all apostles, second **PROPHETS**, third teachers.
Romans 12:4-8: For just as each of us has one body with many members, and those members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is **PROPHESYING**, then **PROPHESY in accordance with your faith, if it is teaching, then teach, If it is encouraging, then give encouragement.
Ephesians 4:7,11-13,16: But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it... So Christ Himself {Not the church!} gives some to be apostles, some to be **PROPHETS**,some to be evangelists and some to be pastors and teachers, to equip His people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ... From Him the whole body, joined and held together by every important ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work!!
Ephesians 2:19,20: Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God's people and also members of His household, built on the foundation of the apostles and **PROPHETS**, with Christ Jesus Himself as the Chief Cornerstone!
I Corinthians 14:1,3,4: Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit, especially **PROPHECY**... The one who **PROPHECIES** speaks to people for their strengthening, encouraging and comfort.... He who **PROPHESIES** edifies the church!
I Corinthians 14:22: **PROPHECY** is not for unbelievers but **FOR BELIEVERS**!
Amos 3:7: Surely the Sovereign Lord does nothing without revealing His plan to His servants the **PROPHETS**!
I Thessalonians 19-21: Do not treat **PROPHECIES** with contempt, but test them all; hold on to what is good!!
I Corinthians 14:39: Therefore, my bothers **BE EAGER TO PROPHESY**!!
2 Peter 1:19-21: We also have the **PROPHETIC** message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the Morning Star rises in your hearts. Above all, you must understand that no **PROPHECY** of Scripture came about by the prophets own interpretation of things.. For **PROPHECY never had its origin in the human will but **PROPHETS**, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit!
Matthew 10:40,41: Jesus says, Anyone who welcomes you welcomes Me, and anyone who welcomes Me welcomes the One who sent Me. Whoever welcomes a **PROPHET** will receive a **PROPHET'S REWARD**!!
Revelation 1:1-4: The Revelation of Jesus Christ which God gave Him to show His servants what must take place. He made it known by sending His angel to His servant John, who testifies to everything he saw--that is the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ. Blessed is the one who reads the words of this **PROPHECY**and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it!
Revelation 22:7,16.18,19: Jesus says, Blessed is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy written in this book... I, Jesus, have sent My angel to give you this testimony **FOR THE CHURCHES**... I warn everyone who hears the words of the **PROPHECY** of this book. If anyone **ADDS** anything to them God will add to that person the plagues described in this book {Like eternal torment in hell in Rev 14:9-11}. And if anyone **TAKES WORDS AWAY** from this book of **PROPHECY**, God will take away from that person any share in the Tree of Life and in the Holy City {The New Jerusalem}, which are described in this book!
The New Covenant prophecies began with the Mount of Olives prophecies in Matthew 24 and 25 and Mark 13 and Luke 21 and completely ceased with the prophecies in the Book of Revelation by Jesus. And anyone teaches or **ADDS** any more prophecies or **TAKES WORDS AWAY** from the Prophecies in Revelation has committed an **UNPARDONABLE SIN**.
And so prophets must be exceedingly careful in what hey teach. And if anyone tells you God just gave him a new prophecy you will know that he is definitely a False Prophet!!
A perfect example of this is how some pre-trib prophets **ADD** to Revelation 4:1:
Revelation 4:1: John said in AD 96 when Revelation was written, " After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And a voice I had first heard speaking to Me like a trumpet {See Rev 1:10} said, "Come up here and I will show you what must take place after this!"
Since a pre-trib rapture is not mentioned in the Olivet Prophecies in Matthew 24,25, Mark 13 and Luke 21 and in all of the prophecies in Revelation some pre-trib prophets **ADD** the ridiculous prophecy that John going up to heaven in AD 96 to learn what will happen in the future **ALSO REPRESENTS** millions of **CHURCH SAINTS** being raptured just before the beginning of the Great Tribulation???
The Post-Trib resurrection of God's saints is beautifully mentioned in the Olivet prophecies in Matthew 24:29-31, Matthew 25:31, Mark 13:24-26, and Luke 21:25-27 and in Revelation 11:15-18 and Revelation 14:14-16!!
God's New Covenant **PROPHETS** must be very careful not the change or contradict any of the inspired **PROPHECIES** in God's Word!!
Revelation 11:3: Jesus says, "I will appoint My 2 witnesses, and they will **PROPHESY** for 1260 days, clothed in sackcloth.
In addition to God's 2 **PROPHETS** {Moses & Elijah?} who will come from heaven to **PROPHESY** for 1260 days during the Great Tribulation, **PROPHETS** are mentioned 8 times in Revelation while pastors, teachers and evangelists are not even mentioned once!! {See Revelation 10:7; 11:10,18; 16:6; 18:20,24; 22:6,9}
Revelation 8:2: And I saw 7 angels who stand before God, and 7 trumpets were given to them! {The fist 6 trumpets will be sounded **DURING** the Great Tribulation as per Revelation 8:6 to Revelation 9:21!!}
Revelation 10:7 In the days when the 7th angel is about to sound his trumpet the **MYSTERY** {See I Cor 15:51,52} of God will be accomplished !{See Revelation 11:15-18} just as He announced to His servants the **PROPHETS**!!
I Corinthians 15:51: Listen, I tell you a **MYSTERY**: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed--in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the {**7TH** and} **LAST TRUMPET**! {see Revelation 8:2 & Rev 11:15}
Revelation 22:6-9: The angel said to me, "These words are trustworthy and true. The Lord, the God who inspires the **PROPHETS**, sent His angel to show His servants the things that must take place." Jesus says, "Blessed is the one who keeps the words of the **PROPHECY** written in this book." I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. And when I heard and seen them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who had been showing them to me. But the angel said to me, "Don't do that! I am a fellow servant with you and with your fellow **PROPHETS** and who all who **KEEP THE WORDS** of this book! **WORSHIP GOD**!"
Amos 3:7: Surely the Sovereign Lord does nothing without revealing His plan to His servants the **PROPHETS**!
Revelation 11:15,18: The 7th angel sounded His trumpet {See Rev 8:2; 10:7; I Cor 15:51}, and there were loud voices in heaven which said: "The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and His Christ and He will reign for ever and ever!"... "The time has come for judging the dead, and for **REWARDING** your servants the **PROPHETS**and your people who reverence your name!"
Matthew 16:27: Jesus says, “The Son of Man is going to come in His Father's glory with His angels and **THEN** He will **REWARD** each person according to what he has done!”
