What about yur Church?

I have a few question s

Does your church invite others to visit the Church?

Does the Chruch visit your home to ask why you haven't been or stop going to church?

I remember our church in our area would come and find out why you haven't been to church and persuaded you to get back in. I been to several churches and found that going for a while then dropping a few times that no one seemed to notice or make attempt to find out why. I know times has its way of changing things but, I think that it would help others to feel as if they were known of there presence and it meant something to the church.

Amen sister... you hit on one of a couple things that i never understood about "ministry". I notice the great pride Christians have to go to other countries to witness... well, when 3rd world countries are starving and we offer food, shelter and .... i would suspect it is easier to witness. however, living in the most "unchurched" state of the union, we need to be getting our brothers and sisters back to the worship center. it unnerves me when i see those morman men walking my neighborhood.

i once did training and was part of outreach program for home-bound church members... so i visited this member who was able to make many trips to events, activities and shopping, but somehow could not get out for church. Another church i belonged to was "dying"... literally, very elderly congregation, and a pastor who was struggling with his own belief (ouch!). When i propose he visit members (active and inactive), he thought i was asking too much... whhich i responded, how many? 50 families, that's one a week with a 2-week vacation. He never did it.

i don't know why people fear this action, after all, those lost members are already not attending. plus, they may have a strong need and the church never bothered with them. A few years ago i lost my job and it was devasting... i had told the pastor, as to the reason why i wasn't attending the council meeting... he and other members never contacted me again... and i was suffering, for months!

Amen sister... this is such a basic need... and where are we?

I hear ya... our Church actually makes podcasts now, and is available to watch live online durring services.

I miss those home visits though. I used to live in many small towns and theyre popular there. But from my experience, like the Church I attend now "holds 8500 on a good Sunday between 3 services" its hard to keep track of attendence and yet have the man power to send out to cover all those people.

I know that isnt an excuse, but I can also see where that can stop others from reaching out like so.
