"And it is all from God, who through the Messiah has reconciled us to himself and has given us the work of that reconciliation, which is that God in the Messiah was reconciling mankind to himself..." - 2 Cor 5:18-19

If Jesus was God, then why did God have to be IN him if he was already God? Someone might say Jesus emptied himself of Godhood to be human. But wait, Scripture says God was in him. People, keep it simple. Scripture is clear; it was God IN Jesus. Not one person of a Trinity Godhead IN another person of a Trinity Godhead who is temporarily not exercising Godhood to be masquerading as a human.

Sadlup,

You’re problem understanding Paul’s writing centers on the absence of a hermeneutical advantage

But in another post you chided me for relying on the proper method of interpretation (hermeneutics). The trouble is, you indicate a vague acquaintance.

I don’t think you truly realize the depth of your own incredulity.

For example, no informed person would ever cast aspersions at the universal method of interpretation for understanding spoken and written language!!

But in your narrow world view you’ve probably never heard about the influence and application of the principles of Hermeneutics.

Yes, these rules apply ALL over the place!! They apply in the humanities, especially in law, history and theology. Like I said, they’re universal!!

Despising the rules of hermeneutics is about as absurd as despising the rules of grammar and logic!

It’s no wonder you’re so confused theologically.

You evidence a profound depth of confusion practically every time you post something.

I’m being stern with you because you are obviously an intelligent person, no question in my mind about that. So it’s ironic that the contents of your posts are so ridiculously silly.

Since intelligence is clearly not the issue for you, then what is?

I have good reason to believe that you just don’t like the basic concepts of accurate interpretation (hermeneutics) **especially** when they fail to yield the results you want. So when rules get in the way of your preconceived notions, they must be jettisoned.

Funny thing is, you expect people to follow the standard rules of accuracy in interpretation when the rules apply to things you say!! Obviously you expect to be understand!

But when it comes to properly understanding what God says in the Bible—you just make up your own rules.

Yes, rules of grammar, logic and hermeneutics are established to help us understand each other and they make language possible.

@LittleDavid,

Two things:

1) You never addressed the referenced Scripture verse.

2) Did Jesus teach hermeneutics or in simple stories?

I’m quite stunned at with the inherent incredulity of your thread.

The passage simply describes the reconciliation God did in or through Christ.

Did Jesus teach grammar??

Since Jesus did not teach grammar, do we just jettison it?? That’s foolish, sadl !!!

Jesus applied the rules of grammar!! That’s how we know what Jesus intended to say because he spoken intelligently!!

It’s truly amazing I must explain elementary principles of communication

Jesus did not just teach “simple stories”.

The parables Jesus taught were intended to hide the truth from the arrogant people like the Pharisees who thought they were so intelligent and wise.

Jesus also fulfilled prophecy, worked miracles and taught some pretty deep things. That explains why his disciples marveled at his sayings. And that’s not even half the story about Jesus!

@LittleDavid;

'Did Jesus teach Hermeneutics or in simple stories?'

1)Again your all things hermeneutic mind set has you so confused that you cannot read a simple sentence without adding, twisting and interpreting so as to miss the intended meaning.

Sure, Jesus taught incredibly deep and profound truths. The above simple sentence in no way negates that fact. This is something you have added. I will expound for you here and prove it to you:

'Did Jesus teach incredibly deep and profound truths using hermeneutics or simple stories?'

2) Sure Jesus taught in parables so some would not understand. Again the sentence doesn't negate that fact. This is because the same parable would be understood by those "with ears". You might want to reference Mark 4:12, Matthew 13:13 and Isaiah 6:9.

3) Everything evil is a perversion of something good. Basic hermeneutics is good, but when taken to the degree you take it to, it becomes perverted into something evil. You pervert hermeneutics into circular reasoning and open it up to accusations of relativism. The cults you complain about pervert the same hermeneutic principles as you to come to a different conclusion. What we are talking about is not 'Basic Hermeneutics'. Rather Hermeneutics perverted into a circular reasoned systematic theology relative to your beginning premise.

Looks like you must have performed a little online search or two and brought yourself up to date on the ubiquitous application of hermeneutics.

Welcome to the real world. Hopefully we’ll see less equivocation in your proceeding posts

Now that you are more informed about hermeneutics, the only reason you condemn the “degree I take hermeneutics” is because it exposes the many weakness of your false theology. Is that right?

BTW, I know your busy and all trying to defend your false belief or sect or cult whatever it is against the onslaught of truth but you keep forgetting to weigh in on the Hebrew Roots Movement.

Are you associated with it, agree or disagree with it. Belong to it or maybe you’re a spin off?

Why are you and your friend prophetic just so shy about who and what you really believe in??

**IS OUR LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST GOD**??

Jesus is called **GOD** 7 times in God's Word and is called **LORD** over 200 times in the New Testament, and is **WORSHIPED** 12 times in the New Testament, and God's Word tells us to only **WORSHIP GOD**!! While the holy spirit is never called **GOD** or **LORD** in God's Word and is **NEVER WORSHIPED** in God's Word!!

And in Hebrews 1:1-3,6,8; Paul is inspired to write: "In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, and through whom He made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of His being, sustaining all things by His powerful word... God says, "Let all God's angels **WORSHIP HIM**!!" and about His Son God says, "**YOUR THRONE**, **O GOD** will last for ever and ever!!"

Revelation 3:21,22: Jesus says, "To him who overcomes, I will give the right to sit with Me on **MY THRONE**, just as I overcame and sat down with **MY FATHER ON HIS THRONE**!!

These are the **ONLY 2 THRONES** in the eternal New Jerusalem as per Revelation 22:3 below!!! The holy spirit who many say are CO-EQUAL** with **GOD OUR FATHER** and our **LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST** does not have a **THRONE** in our **ETERNAL HOME IN THE NEW JERUSALEM**!!

NOTE: Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is called the **LAMB** 30 times in the Book of Revelation!

Revelation 22:3: The **THRONE OF GOD** and of the **LAMB** will be in the City! {In our **ETERNAL** Home in the New Jerusalem}

Revelation 21:22-23: I did not see a temple in the City, because the **LORD GOD ALMIGHTY** and the **LAMB** are its temple. The City does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of **GOD** gives it light and the **LAMB** is its Lamp!!

Isaiah 9:6,7: For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, **MIGHTY GOD** and Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of His government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David's **THRONE** and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and **FOREVER**. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this!

John 1:1-4: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the **WORD WAS GOD** He was with God in the beginning. **THROUGH HIM** all things were made. In Him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.

Colossians 1:15-18: The Son is the image of the invisible God. In Him all things were created, things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created **THROUGH HIM** and **FOR HIM**!! He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. And He is the **HEAD** of the body, the church!!

John 1:18: No one has ever seen God, **BUT THE ONE AND ONLY SON**!! who is **HIMSELF GOD** and in closest relationship with the Father, has made Him known!!

Titus 2:13-14: We wait for the **BLESSED HOPE**--the glorious appearing of our great **GOD AND SAVIOR**, Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to glorify Himself a people that are **HIS VERY OWN**, eager to do what is good!

John 10:27-30: Jesus says, "My sheep listen to My voice, I know them, and they follow Me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish, no one can snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me is **GREATER THAN ALL**; no one can snatch them out of My Father's hand. I and My Father are **ONE**!"

John 20:27-29: Jesus said to Thomas, "Put your finger her, see My hands. Reach out your hand and put it into My side. Stop doubting and believe." Thomas said to Jesus, "**MY LORD** and **MY GOD**!: Then Jesus told him, Because you have seen Me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet believed!"

Philippians 2:5-11: Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus. Who being in very nature **GOD**, did not consider **Equality with God something to be grasped... He humbled Himself--even death on a c ross! Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him a name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that**JESUS IS LORD**, to the glory of God the father!!

Colossians 2:9,10: For in Christ **ALL THE FULLNESS OF THE DEITY LIVES** in bodily form, and you have been given fullness in Christ, who is the **HEAD**over every power and authority!!

I John 5:20: We know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know Him {The *FATHER*} who is true. and we are in Him who is true by being in **HIS SON** Jesus Christ. He is **TRUE GOD** and eternal life!!

Richard, you’ve so marginalized yourself to the point of irrelevancy.

But maybe you could redeem yourself by helping your fellow travelers, like Sadlup, who travels recklessly down the same path.
