Sabbath 3/9/19 Seventh Day Baptist Edgewater Pastor Keith sermon “Serving God” John 12:26

Call for your Commander and Chief when you need help. The best leaders are those who will help anyone, are humble and not on a high horse. We should have the same attitude and have the nature of a servant. We should be like Jesus; be humble and obedient. Jesus came not to be served but to serve and give His life to save the world. When we join up with Jesus, we have joined into the movement to save and redeem the world. We should be like clay in the potters hand and let God mold us to be useful for His desire. God shapes us into an instrument to use for His purpose. God works in us and thru us. Jesus said He could do nothing but what God told Him to do. We are the same, we can do only what God wants us to do. He molds us to be the way He wants us to be.



Prophet Elijah challenged the priest of Baal during Ahab’s and Jezebel’s reign. Elijah said let your false god Baal start fire on your altar and see if God will start fire on my altar. Let us see if God or Baal will start the fire. False god Baal did nothing. But on Elijah’s alter, God let fire come down from Heaven and burn up the sacrifice and the water in the trench around the altar. Elijah said it was God who did it and not him. He was humble and gave all the credit for the fire from Heaven to God. Elijah’s role in this event was to be humble and make himself available for God’s use. We can do the same thing. In James 5:17-18, it says Elijah was a human being just like we are. An ordinary person like you and me. He just prayed to God, obeyed God and humbled himself to God.



Another example is in book of Acts when Peter and John preached Jesus and healed people. Peter and John had a relationship with God and had been with Jesus. Their association with Jesus made Peter and John world changers. This world has yet to see what God will do with a man fully consecrated to Him. God will use any person that is fully consecrated to Him. God can use all of us and send all us out to the world. God can work in extraordinary ways to accomplish things for God’s Kingdom. God can do anything He pleases!!
