Sabbath 11/24/18 Alfred Station Seventh Day Baptist Pastor Ken Sermon �Unity � Seven Things� Ephesians 4:4-6

The text today is for the local congregations and it�s about Unity. The unity of the local churches. The seven things of Unity are: One Body, One Spirit, One Hope, One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism and One God/Father.



1) One Body: We are all in One Body. All of us are in Christ Jesus. Each of us have a gift to be used to edify the Church and the Body.



2) One Spirit: This is not a human spirit but the Holy Spirit that dwells in us and seals us. The Holy Spirit is the one that makes the body come alive. The local church is an organism. It is alive not because of who we are but because we have the Holy Spirit. We are unified because we have One Spirit.



3) One Hope of Calling: The local congregation is called to the Hope that Jesus is returning. We will have a face to face meeting with Jesus. We will see those who died in Christ Jesus again. They will rise from the dead and be resurrected.



4) One Lord: Jesus is His Name. We shall be saved if we confess Jesus and believe God raised Him from the dead. Jesus is the one Head of the church. Not the pastor, not the Sabbath school teacher. Jesus is the Head and Hope of the church.



5) One Faith: The Faith of the saints in God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. We believe this. Faith is saying we believe. All people in the local congregations have this one Faith and are unified.



6) One Baptism: This is the water baptism that unified them. Each person was baptized confessing their belief and faith.



7) One God/Father: Jesus is not ashamed to call us brothers and sisters. Then God is our father and the one sitting next to us is our brother or sister. We are unified and we have unity in the local congregations.



When you get fed up with people, just remember theses seven things of Unity to help you deal with them. The local congregations of Christians should understand that we are ALL in Christ Jesus. We are ALL children of God and we ALL got there the same way. Through Jesus Christ!!
