Putting God First?

I have been a Christian all of my adult life. As I have gotten older, and observed more, I have started reevaluating some of the Church Doctrines pushed upon us.

For starters I know a lot of dears sisters who took the view "I will put God first, and when his time is right, he will give me the perfect husband." Those sister are now older, alone, bitter, and broken. Not once have I seen God miraculously deliver a husband.

Like some, I wish Christianity delivered us a perfect life, but it just doesn't, and I see no evidence God ever promised that. To me the difference is that we have our faith and our personal Saviour to accompany and guide us through life.

Even now, on this dating site, I see a lot of ladies explaining how they want to put God first and serve him, and I wonder what message they are trying to convey in match-making context?

My Christianity is fundamental to who I am and is something I would never compromise. So I certainly respect that in others. But if I believed God was going to miraculously drop a new wife in my lap, i wouldn't be here.

Sadly, too many of us keeping looking for the “perfect” partner but only in vain.

I got to wondering what it might be like if finding a “perfect” woman were possible. First, the job she would have correcting all my imperfections would probably wear her out. Worse yet, I’m certain her righteous corrections would quickly reveal my hidden sinful pride; my sinfully hurt feelings would then provoke me to rebel. Second, she might have to look me in the face and say, “get behind me Satan”, like Jesus had to say to Peter. At some point she might even have to say, “how much longer will I have to put up with you...”, like Jesus also had to say to his disciples.

While I would be loved with a perfect love I would never qualify to be her husband until I was actually **made perfect**.

Furthermore, I might reason, if my pride so easily gets provoked on earth after receiving correction from fellow sinners, who may be more righteous and closer to God than me, who am I to think I could live humbly and in perfect harmony with a “perfect” woman.

Think I better just settle for an imperfect woman who submits to God and desires to follow him more fully each day

God speaks better than man? If it were not true would He alone have to be the Word? God says depart from evil, and do good(because you cant do good unless you departed from serving evil can you?) then you dwell with the Lord forever, who is forever and then you are clean to be with the Holy one. The saints feel forsaken, but that is because the Lord loves judgement and reserves all for us. The wicked at that long time of waiting are suddenly and surprisingly cut off, the righteous inherit what was theirs. Hey speak wisdom, which is the Lords judgements. It is nonsense when we talk of our own judgements and thoughts. Have the Law of Christ in our heart, then we slip in nothing. The wicked are all around, like a lion waiting to devour. The Lord guards you and escapes you out of their unjust judgement and deceit. Wait on the Lord then, keep His ways, it is worth it, as He exalts us to inherit the land, this world, and the wicked that is in total power who gets their hearts desires will be cut off, don't be cut off with them, they will never be found again. Now see the perfect man, the end of the upright is peace. The ones who break the right ways of the Lord and teach that way will be destroyed and cut off together.

If we seek favor from the Lord, what we find is good. If we think and look for not good, that is what we will find. Belief is the only thing that prevents us, believe in the testimonies of the Lord, the perfect man submits to God, God says so right there, He is not wrong, He is right, neither are His testimonies any offence, they are perfect.

Like for us to live with the Lord, we are below His level, we love Him and want to learn of His goodness, and although He corrects us on every single thing, we don't mind that, we know His perfect love was real, and so ours must be too or we do not really love Him...1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

Psalm 37:27 Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore.

28 For the Lord loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.

29 The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever.

30 The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment.

31 The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.

32 The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him.

33 The Lord will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged.

34 Wait on the Lord, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.

35 I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree.

36 Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not: yea, I sought him, but he could not be found.

37 Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace.

38 But the transgressors shall be destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off.

39 But the salvation of the righteous is of the Lord: he is their strength in the time of trouble.

40 And the Lord shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.

Proverbs 18:22 Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the Lord.
