Sabbath 10/27/18 Alfred Station Seventh Day Baptist church Pastor Ken sermon �Comfort of Believers� I Thessalonians 4:13-18

This text is not for talking about the second coming but it�s about giving comfort to the believers about those that had passed away. Paul wanted people to know about those that had died-went to sleep in the Lord. He wants us to be informed about them and to not grieve for them like non-believers do for their dead. Paul didn�t want us to grieve like those who have no hope. Many non-believers have the word �Farewell� on their tombstones. Paul didn�t want us to think that we would never see the believers again. Don�t grieve for them because we will see them again. Their being asleep does not mean forever.



If we believe that Jesus Christ died and rose again, we will see our asleep believers again. At the heat of our Christian faith is the belief in the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. If we believe This, then That. The believers that are asleep will rise again! Those that are laid down with Jesus, He will bring back again with Him!



Comfort one another. God will bring back those asleep in Jesus. The Lord will ascend from Heaven. Jesus will come from Heaven with a Shout! A shout like the children of Israel did at the walls of Jericho and the walls fell down. Shout is not some sort of secret coming back of Jesus. The arch angel Michael will be shouting too. Also the trumpet of God will be blown. This is not a secret coming back.



Our text says to comfort one another with these things/beliefs. Every believer is going to arise in a brand new body like Jesus. We, who died in Christ, will arise. We, who are alive, will be caught up with them in the clouds. Our bodies will be changed in a moment, in the twinkle of an eye. In the speed of light our body will be changed and then we can go up through the ceiling to meet Jesus in the clouds. The destination is to be with the Lord and we will be FOREVER with the Lord!!!



This text is to comfort us when a love one dies, who knows the Lord. They who died, fell asleep as believers, will arise and come back with the Lord. Comfort one another with these words. Don�t worry or wonder where the loved one has gone after death. The answer is with these words from Paul to the Church. Be comforted that those who are believers and die in Christ will rise again. Jesus is returning and coming back for them and for us. We, who are alive, need to live like Jesus is coming back any second! We are to have this hope in the Jesus�s precious name.
